What was the short at the end?
In order to effect the maximum taste out of food such as a boiled sweet.

Oh that short at the end??? What was that???

That's the bat signal for FOX that they need to hire new writers or cancel this shit!

Initial thoughts: This looks terrible. Well... guess I know where this review is going before it even starts.

    ACT ONE:
    "Blue Bonnet Plague"
Wow. Actually showing Otto using drug paraphernalia? Hey kids! This is how you smoke marijuana! Now you try it!
"Eggs don't belong in a chicken's eye. It belongs in her pee-poo-birth hole." Ew.
...not going into the continuity error with Burns' childhood. At this point in the show, it's pointless.
    "The Maggie Test" was cute.
The Springfield Elementary School Band has suddenly become a very professional sounding band. Mr. Largo must be working really hard with those kids!

    ACT TWO:
This whole Burns subplot is stupid as Hell, and I really don't care for the main Bart plot either.
The transitions between the a and b-plot are very awkward.

    ACT THREE:
So, Moe knows who's prank calling the bar now? That's it writers. Kill the classic Simpsons' gags. KILL 'EM ALL!
Is this how we're tying the plots together? Has Lisa become so incompetent that she inexplicably needs Burns' help... for some reason? I'm confused.
"You're nothing more than a fraud with a cute little bod." Great. Why don't you just have Smithers say "Wanna screw, boss?"

    ACT FOUR:
Marge volunteers to wash people's clothes, not because she's nice... but because the writers needed a resolution. Now, that was lazy.
...and Willie is the culprit... for some stupid reason.

An epilogue that seems to be composed of deleted scenes they couldn't shoe-horn into that horrible plot line.

What the Hell did I just watch? That was a hot mess.

If I were able to vote lower that 1/5 in the poll, I would.

marijuana makes people and things hilarious. i'd be a far happier marijuana user if the simpsons writers were pot smokers. the show would be much, much better.

i think you're ludicrous if you were serious, btw.

They should've had the Samuel L. Jackson lookalike yell, "We need the Octiganarians, motherfucker!".
Well, ya'know if you stay positive and forget about trivial things like "proper characterization," "Satire," and "emotional depth" watching new Simpsons episodes can be a seemingly enjoyable lie.

I tried watching a new episode the Simpsons, but I realized the show hit a new low, like a brand new, underground parking structure of sadness.

A parody of the Avengers with other old folks.

Moleman as Iron Lung should have played... but it didn't.

There's the whole clip of it on Fox's youtube.

No... right after it ended it cut to black .. then we get a bit more bs.

    Then credits.

Probably something that was animated and cut that was added back in b/c the show was too short.

Yeah, I was serious. I see your point, though. It's not like there wasn't a whole episode where Homer smoked pot throughout, or that time Brandine was shown smoking crystal meth, or Otto smoking the bong in the movie....

Point taken. It was kind of ridiculous to point that out... but it still caught me off guard.

    Now... go smoke some pot.

This episode was FUCKING awful! >_> How can you have an episode like this right after "Gorgeous Grampa" and "Black-Eyed Please" TWO modern classics! This was just.... embarrassing. I got like one chuckle that's it. I mean it was nice to see Herman and Rainer cameos but that doesn't make the episode good. 1/5 = F

Modern Classics = Modern Simpsons episodes that are actually good. Modern Classics as if the classic era never existed (since they obviously can't compete) and it was only the Jean era. That's my take on it.

This episode actually flip flopped on me. The promos led me to believe that the Burns stuff would be the worst part of the episode, while the courtroom stuff could be quite good. Instead the episode went all Simple Simpson on me and I actually really enjoyed, and for the most part believed, Burns being a superhero. The reason for him making the choice fit in a very Bobo the bear sort of way, and the way he went about it fit his personality. He wasn't really being a hero, he was just enjoying the power. I was especially happy to see that the whole Dependables segment was actually a non-canon post credits zinger. Or at least that is how I read it. I mean, Glick was alive and the whole superhero setup was very much removed from how it was actually pulled off within the episode. So in terms of the Burns plot, 4/5

The whole Bart goes to trial thing is what hurt the episode for me. Janet Reno appearing as the judge just did not work, despite a few funny lines from her. As others have mentioned, there was no real fear of what could happen to Bart if found guilty. In fact, it was a really tame prank anyway. I did like how Burns story tied in at the end, but still the whole trial bit gets a 2/5 from me. I feel like we've had far stronger Bart conflicts this season, like A Test Before Trying, and this just felt stale by comparison.

4/5 for Burns, 2/5 for Bart on trial makes it a 3/5
    UP AND ATOM!

    Me too.

I guess Moe now knows it's Bart crank calling him, so... that's that.

Also I think people are just enjoying this one b/c someone else other than a Simpson got the bulk of the show.
