I am loved the original. I hate that it's a prequel though. NO ONE asked "I wonder how Mike and Sully met?" I much rather have seen Boo grown up telling the human world about the Monster world existing or something and some plot forms from that. Not to mention in Monsters Inc. Mike said that him and Sully been friends from at least 3rd grade yet this movie it tells the story of how they met and became friends in college!? WTF? But that small minor gripe aside I'm interested in where they take this film as I do enjoy the characters. I wish David Silverman, Lee Unkrich, and Pete Doctor were directing as well or at least one of them returned. As Dan Scalon doesn't have that great of a track-record...

C'mon, that was eleven years ago. Pixar probably changed their mind about Mike and Sulley's relationship sometime afterwards.

Wait, David Silverman? Did he direct a Pixar film?

David Silverman co-directed the first Monsters Inc. Yes I know it was 11 years ago but Pixar did the Toy Story franchise justice/consistent why not the Monsters Universe as well?

Cautiously optimistic. Monsters Inc is my favorite Pixar (I know, I know), but I just have no idea. The trailer looked decent, but the actual film will be the true test.

Cars short doesn't really lend itself to giving him a track record of directing.

I meant he doesn't have a track record with directing. He's mostly just been a storyboard artist.

A lot of dark scenes in that trailer, I'm loving the animation in these trailers.

That was the same exact trailer I posted a page ago. Way to get my hopes up for a new one.

Yeah, I'm definitely looking forward to Monsters University; a prequel feels like the right way to go.

I do wonder why they never show Randall clearly in the trailers, though; he appears just briefly once or twice and doesn't get any lines. He was one of the main characters in the first one so there is not really a reason to keep him obscured.

Yeah they didn't announce Roz. Returning characters confirmed are Mike, Sully, Celia, Waternoose, Randall, and George.

Fuck the Japanese really don't give a shit about spoilers, I think they just showed the entire damn film. (although I'm positive I'll forget most of it by late June) I still remain cautiously optimistic.

I'm really curious about the next couple of films, which have Pixar finally going the high concept route again. "The Good Dinosaur", which is about dinosaurs never becoming extinct and evolving into expert farmers and "Inside Out" about the emotions that control a little girl's brain. Now we can see why we had "Toy Story 3", "Cars 2" and "Monsters University"... Pixar needed the leverage to allow Disney to get these bizarre projects off the ground. The second especially I have no idea how it will translate into feature-length. The premise is very similar to "Herman's Head" which eventually lost interest in its own concept itself by the third season, and instead wasted time on plotlines such as having Yeardley Smith and Hank Azaria hooking up (yes that really happened and it sounded hysterically creepy if you closed your eyes). I'm sure Pete Docter will find a way.

    Oh and there's concept art:

Finding Dory seems pretty good. I didn't expect the Finding Nemo sequel to be based on Dory, but whatever.

I says Dory tries to find her family, so I hope Marlin will accompany her on the trip.

So Monsters University came 12 years after the original, and so will Finding Dory. Coincidence? I think not!

    Bugs Life 2?

  31. #149

I'm skeptical on this Finding Dory, but if it delivers, then sure, why not watch it?

You're BoJack Horseman, no cure for that.

If Pixar don't do this eventually, I will be very angwy.

EDIT: But yeah, I loved Finding Nemo when I was six, so it will be nostalgic, blah blah blah, to watch this.
