This thread should be posted in more often.

Also that episode looks pretty good. But I wonder why they'd bring Steve just to ditch him...they should have just left him home with Klaus.

on the wikipedia page it says upcoming plots involve roger returning to his home planet and klaus finding his human body. don't know if these are true, but usually wikipedia articles for shows' seasons are accurate, at least in my experience. is this, or could this, be the final season?

This isn't the final season. At least, I don't think it is.

I have heard from various sources about the Roger home planet and Klaus episodes. It does seem like an experimental season, and it very well could be the end.

But if it is, I'd be glad. This show has run its course to be honest, and I don't know if it should last another year.

it's kind of sad to think about this show ending, but hopefully they'll have a great final season (if this is that season)

I'd rather have it end on a good note than have it dragged out and ruined like the Simpsons .

That's why I loved Family Guy and Futurama during their original run and hated when they came back....after being off the air for so many years they can't really live up to what they once were.

If AD ends then fair enough (After all they were prepared to end it with the "Hot Water" episode originally until they found out they had been renewed) but they did mention that they have an idea for an American Dad movie at the comic-con panel. which would involve them all going to Roger's home planet.
    How to remaster

But since they're already doing that this season then isn't that off the table?

I also saw a clip at an american dad panel where they talked about doing a spinoff with Steve where he's a drug addicted runaway.

    So you never know.

'hot water' was initially going to be the finale?

that ending just took on a new meaning

Yep, they were just like "What better way to end the show than by flat out killing the main character

Oh, and on the topic of "Killer Vacation" (Due to Steve saying he'll just hang out with Jeff) If this were to be the last season, I'd like to see at least one episode where those two spend some time together. I think the closest we've gotten to that is the episode where Jeff gets addicted to the online game that Steve is playing.

I dunno, I just think it'd be cool to get a story about Steve and Jeff since they are officially brothers in law.

if the actual finale sucks then Hot Water is my de facto finale.

I loved "Hot Water". It's among my top AD episodes. But I'll accept whatever finale they come up with.

    Previews for Sunday's episode:

The show isn't in its final season, but the next one could be its last. That, or The Cleveland Show. FOX is axing a show in 2014, and I know it isn't Bob's Burgers.

I dunno, season 8 seems to be a good stopping point. If I had a TV show I would never want it to go past 8. (well, yes I would from a financial point, but you know what I mean)

  34. #54

The show had a pretty good run, but I've seen a few more miss episodes this season unfortunately. The Simpsons getting axed in 2014 wouldn't be a surprise, but justice towards The Cleveland Show is more likely due to its rather low ratings.

Yeah. It's still my second favourite animated show currently airing (next to Bob's Burgers) and i'd happily see fg, and tcs go before it. But I know what you mean, the last few years haven't been fantastic but like I said before at least it isn't entirely dried up. Some of my favourite episodes came out of last season (hot water, wheels and the legman and the case of grandpa's key) but also not so great ones (the wrestling episode, and that godawful dog one).

But i'd rather see it go sooner than later. Honestly I hate when shows just stay on air just because they wanna kill time.

Fortunately this weeks episode looks pretty decient from the clips i've seen. Lets hope it stays that way.

I remember when it started, it was kind of awkward up until Deacon Stan, Jesus Man, where I started to really enjoy it. The last episode I would consider being great so far is probably Ricky Spanish.

Yeah there will defintly be a 9th season due to season 8 still having a lot of production season 7 episodes. I really hope we get an hour long episode sometime soon though at least the finale maybe and an episode where we really see Rodgrs home world ,although I think thats supposed to happen sometime this season maybe.

Yeah I think Roger's home planet episode is schedueled to air in about a month.

Also the Christmas musical episode will air in two weeks.

I'm finally open to this show ending, even though I'm excited for some of the upcoming episodes. A year ago I would've cyber-punched anyone for suggesting it even though it's now far from fresh. That said, I haven't even watched Cleve this season (in fact I wasn't even interested in whether it was still on), when beforehand I used to watch it in case it was a good episode. If AD goes, Cleve shouldn't stay either as its good:bad episode ratio is never going to meet that of American Dad. And Family Guy? That had better stay at least at its current season standard or I will resent its longer run for eternity.

This is one of the few shows where I could consider the idea that a movie wouldn't be some overblown piece of crap - but what if it ended up being in the cinema like TSM and launched a greater fan interest in the show and it stayed on air for another decade because it was financially viable? What could we even think? Also, Seth resisting temptation to make it a giant crossover episode? UNcertain...

I'd be cool with an extended final episode or final season story arc lasting a few weeks with different plots coming up, though hoping for some kind of oddball twist which surpasses the other couple of epis we thought could make a good finale.

ETA: If there is ever another crossover, please for the love of god, kill all three shows in an entertaining way. Giant chicken - one stone.

That'd be fun, I like what you're getting at. Well American Dad, it's been a fun ride, but I think it's time that three shows that FOX has should go so newer creators (like myself, I'm writing an animated series. I thought of making a discussion thread of my ideas, but I don't know where I should do it) are given a chance to shine on FOX's animation block. Those three shows would be Family Guy, The Simpsons, and The Cleveland Show. While the latter never had a good run, the former two had a great run at some point and I think it's time for them to hang their coats soon. American Dad should make their ninth or tenth season the best and the last, then hang up the coat.
