The problem with Typhlosion is that he has more Special Attack than Attack whereas he especially has physical moves.

If your Typhlosion has good speed, here's what I'd do:

    Sunny Day/Solarbeam combo
    Flamethrower
and maybe fill the fourth slot with something that would raise your evasiveness (e.g. Double Team) or prevent the opposing Pokémon from attacking (looking at the TMs, I'd say Attract or Swagger might be your best bet, depending on whether your Pokémon can take a decent hit). I only say this so you can use Sunny Day and have a chance of the other Pokémon missing.

That's not exactly true. Via level-up, Typhlosion learns more special moves than physical moves. Now, if you teach it via TM, it does learn more physical moves, but if you're relying on TMs, you could always breed one to have an elevated attack stat by giving it an Adamant, Lonely, Brave, or Naughty nature, but I would still gravitate toward its naturally learned special moves instead of TMs.

My Typhlosion has very good speed, it is his best stat actually. His current moveset is Swift, Flamethrower, Earthquake and Solar Beam but I was planning on getting rid of Swift for Shadow Claw eventually. That would leave me with 2 Physical and 2 Special moves. I was unaware Typhlosion can learn Swagger though, might not be a bad idea...

That was why I gave Typhlosion Solar Beam initially, would kill most Water or Ground types which are Typhlosion's primary weaknesses, but the fact that it takes 2 moves without Sunny Day is more of a drawback than I thought it would be...
My Arbok would kill your Typhlosion. Attract, Toxic, Dig...hehehe

Your Arbok has Dig and the Typhlosion has the already super effective Earthquake, multiplied in power when Arbok uses Dig. I fail to see how it would "kill" the Typhlosion.

Bite?! It's an ARBOK, for God's sake. Teach it Crunch already!

Pfft, it cleaned up the Jugglers for a while in Fuschia Gym despite it's type-disavantage! At one point, it was like:

Foe DROWZEE is immolibilized by love!
    Or Foe Drowzee flinched!

It was like that until it fainted *giggle*

My Ferrothorn is the master of those kinds of Pokemon. It has Toxic, Leech Seed, Protect (to double the effects) and Power Whip (for the rare times it needs to attack). It also has the ability Iron Barbs (hurts the opponent whenever they make contact with it) and is holding a Rocky Helmet (same effect as Iron Barbs). To cap that off, it's EV trained in Defense and Special Defense.

Just keep it away from fire.

Perhaps if you got good luck with Attract, but my Xatu would kill you in one hit unless you were faster.

Lucario would then clobber your Electabuzz.

Hey, Bite's not bad if you want flinching. Dobbie's Arbok seems to be an annoyer, so Bite would be pretty beneficial.

I suppose...but I probably wouldn't stick with a weaker move just because it has an effect that happens less than 50% of the time.

Crunch is definitely the superior move. With an Arbok though I'm amazed you didn't teach it Glare. Doesn't it learn it naturally? Paralysis seems more dependable than Attract.

Ooh, good catch. I didn't even think about Glare. Quite possibly the best paralysis move in the game. 90% accuracy and can paralyze Electric-types.

I'd agree, but I don't think it's a landslide. It somewhat depends on what you're looking for in added effects. Bite has decent enough power with a little more PP than Crunch (and an increased chance of added effect), but if you don't need flinching, then yeah, definitely go for Crunch.

Well if you have an Arbok that already knows Toxic and Glare I'd say flinching isn't necessary...but of course why you'd have both Toxic and Glare is beyond me...

Yeah, Toxic and Glare's not a great combo. With @Dobbie's case, I'd say both Bite and Crunch have their merits, unless Toxic is ditched for Glare, in which case Crunch may be a better choice.

I got rid of Glare for Toxic. A 90% hit-ratio that can't be right as whenever I used it Arbok missed. I'd say it hit once every 5 times for me!

Bite's not so bad, especially when Attract works. It gives you a big chance that your foe won't attack you at all. Amusing when it's also poisoned! I'll change the movesets if required before the Elite Four/GMFO if necessary, only Giovanni left but I'm going to Seafom Isles first.

What generation are you playing? From Generations I to IV, it was only 75 accuracy.
