i haven't really cared much about the star wars franchise since like 2008 so i don't put it on any sort of pedestal beyond finding the original trilogy to be generally enjoyable. i rewatched a new hope right before the force awakens came out and liked it but i don't think it holds up super well, and it was the first star wars film i had seen in five years. i imagine i would like empire more because it was always my favorite as a kid, but idk. then the force awakens came out and i thought it was genuinely sorta great so i'm comfortable placing it at number one.

I dunno why people think Ewoks are such pushovers; they could literally rip a Gungan from limb to limb.

Every Star Wars movie has some goofy aliens. Yeah, are Ewoks kinda goofy? Yes. Are they actually pretty brutal? Also yes. They constructed a bunch of traps throughout Endor that would make a backwoods murderous hermit proud and they have the upper body strength of a fuckin' chimpanzee. And then they ambushed and murdered the stormtroopers with knives, clubs, and spears. I think one of the EU sources has them using poison on their weapons, too. Also don't forget that they were fully willing to cook and eat our heroes before they started worshipping C-3PO.

I feel like I probably said all that before but I will never stop defending these little bastards. Plus, we all know that the really badass stuff in Jedi was Luke alternately fighting and not fighting Vader, and Ian McDiarmid hamming it up as Palpatine. I truly think his performance there was better than in Revenge of the Sith.

Ow, the ROTJ bashing on the last page. I really like it and find it to be a great finale to the OT & like @Torrens I do like the Ewoks; they are pretty cool and I never found them to be a ruining nuisance (also, there is much more to the movie than them; the culmination of the conflict between Luke & Vader with Palpatine pulling the strings is great, the speeder bike chase is awesome & I enjoy the Jabba The Hutt stuff among other things).

I know the Ewoks are infamously hated among the Star Wars fandom, but honestly, I've never minded them much. Sure their pretty childish and kind of goofy, but their not as annoying as other child friendly characters (like say Jar Jar), and at least the Ewoks can fight (plus, as Torrens pointed out, they were going to murder and eat the Rebels until Luke convinced them C-3PO was a god).

Also, since a couple of other people already did it, here's my list ranking the Star Wars movies:

    Empire
    Jedi
    Hope
    Rogue 1
    Awakens
    Sith
    Phantom
    Clones
The Clone Wars pilot movie nobody really remembers or cares about anymore (I don't know if this technically counts, but it was released in theaters, so I'm including it).

Don't mind the ewoks either. They were pretty cool characters.

My ranking of the SW movies along with how i would rate them:
    Empire: 10/10
    Jedi: 9.5/10
    Rogue: 9.5/10
    Force: 9.5/10
    Hope: 9.5/10
    Sith: 9/10
    Clones: 7/10
    Menace: 7/10

Since you others have been doing it I will rank the films too:

    TESB
    ROTJ
    ANH
    TFA
    TPM
    ROTS
    AOTC
    TCW Movie

(Dunno where to put Rogue One; I need to see it again first)

So when do you guys think we can expect to see a trailer for The Last Jedi?

not sure about a trailer {probably at the end of the week or sometime very soon after?}, but apparently there's going to be a 'huge announcement' on Good Morning America tomorrow.

I expect that the teaser trailer is coming soon, seeing as other new trailers (such as that of the third Thor movie) have been released by now and because the next Star Wars Celebration event is just around the corner.

I would be surprised if the announcement is that of an new release of the unaltered original trilogy; it has been rumored but it doesn't necessarily mean that it will happen.

So is anyone keeping up with the ongoing Star Wars Celebration event a little bit? There's live streaming (currently the Episode VIII panel is on) and several videos and clips (including some previously unseen footage) on YouTube.

Holy crap, I think they are about to drop the trailer now.

UPDATE: Okay, that trailer was pretty great. Really cool to see it played live (through streaming, granted, but still).

UPDATE 2: And here it is.

I really like that poster (which all of those present during the panel got a copy of).

And of course the popular SW board Jedi Council Forums over at TheForce.net crashed after this; I believe the exact same thing happened when the TFA trailer was released (and maybe also with the Rogue One trailer). Oh, those crazy fans

Director Rian Johnson answers why Kylo Ren's scar is differently placed in The Last Jedi.

    http://www.ign.com/articles/2017/04/...ens-scar-moved

I know it is a minor thing (it's just a scar; I actually didn't pick up on the change until I saw someone mention it) but it kinda does bother me a little bit. Who cares if the original scar's placement looked a bit goofy (I don't think it did)? This decision feels pretty unnecessary & creates an continuity error.

The scar's placement will become a running joke. "I'm sorry but wasn't your scar on the other side of your face."

So no more alterations to the original trilogy, but I'm curious about how a lot of folks is interpreting this as a definite "no" to a new release of the original unaltered versions (I mean, some news outlets are really twisting this and states that the interview have said just that).

Well, Star Wars Rebels is over. Season 4 has been confirmed to be the last one. Also, EA promises that the next Battlefront game will feature more actual content at launch and won't have a season pass this time.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's amazing how Darth Maul has somehow become the mascot of the Prequel Trilogy. The guy was only in the trilogy for 15 minutes in one film before dying and only had a few lines and two fight scenes, yet he seems to be the character most people associate with the prequels and is the go-to-guy for whenever Disney wants to reference that part of the franchise. I guess Darth Maul is officially to the prequels what Boba Feet is to the original films by this point.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll release a novel or comic book for the expanded universe that takes places between Episodes VII and VII and goes into the history of Kylo Ren's scar and why it changed places. This is Star Wars, after all.
