Where is this vid from? Who's holding the camera? What's the job? The world may never know.

The first part of "To Boldly Flee" came out tonight. http://blip.tv/nostalgiacritic/to-bo...part-1-6319212

    It was really good.

I have absolutely no idea in the world what that was all about. What was its purpose? The last Critic episode? The last thing TGWTG will ever do? Just made for fun?

It's a special episode they do each year for the anniversary celebration of the site. They've been blown to feature length since 2010. I guess he comes back with a regular episode the next week. I watched until the advertisement break and it didn't interest me enough. I'll wait until it's been all uploaded and that I have enough free time to watch it (and also watch the previous one).

He finished off the Child's Play trilogy with Phelous, I watched it yesterday. It was okay, nothing great really...

Oh, he did? I was wondering when he'd get to 3, because I actually like that one. I'll watch it tomorrow.

The part on To Boldly Flee with the computers makes up for all of the terrible reviews Doug has been making lately.

Due to more delays they're releasing it three days at a time, and no new NCs until September 18th. Hopefully it'll be worth the wait, so far it seems so. I'm enjoying this far more than the previous specials, which dragged and had no sense of pacing. However this seems to embrace the idea of adhering strictly to story, rather than some flimsy plotline mostly used to push forward scenes of these internet reviewers talking smack to one another.

I think Doug realizes now that the novelty is mostly gone, and instead has proceeded to instead write something fun and engaging without worrying about a fan whining, "Why didn't Obscurus Lupa and JesuOtaku interact with Sad Panda?"

    Good for him.

Sad Panda is also a funny guy.

Also, IMO, Brad Jones is the best actor in this movie so far.

He's good, but no one can beat James Rolfe.

However, they're both friends, and make cameos in each others videos. So, he's still pretty good.

If that's the case, I'll have to check him out.

    Better.

I don't really want to get into a stupid fanboyish AVGN/NC debate (because that sounds like the worst thing ever). But I'd give NC the nod just for the fact that he still churns out videos weekly.

He's on YouTube, right? If so, what videos do you suggest?

Also, you guys really need to see To Boldly Flee.

It's one of the greatest things I've seen by TGWTG.

As I said earlier, his Dark Knight and Sonic the Hedgehog reviews are great. He also did a crossover with James Rolfe reviewing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles "Coming Out Of Their Shells" tour. Also checkout "5 second movies" which was also produced by Doug. He also did a "Top 11 Simpsons Episodes" list which is interesting.

Yeah, except the fact that there's supposedly an announcement coming out today that Doug is ending the Nostalgia Critic show/putting it on indefinite hiatus.

    So there's that.

He's making an announcement, but not about him quitting. It's about the future of the site.

From what I've seen it seems like @ryan o is right, as much as I hate the idea of there not being new NC's every week any more. Heck I'd be happy with once a month, like AVGN did.

He's ending the show, but working towards making new ones/content. From my understanding it's only the NC show that is coming to a close.

If he is ending NC, it sucks, but I can certainly see why he would feel he needs to. He's pretty much been doing this every week for five years. I'm sure he's got tons of projects he's wanted to do that the near-nonstop production of NC episodes has held him back from.

At least if it does end, he'll be ending the show when it's still good, rather than letting it decline and fester. This has been a solid year of NC, one of his best.
