If you read my review for this episode you'll know I have a soft spot for it because I used to talk about/reference it with a friend all the time. I still find most of the jokes very funny so I can get past the Homer framing Marge thing. Didn't watch your review jims but I assume you're gonna bash it for that or calling out the prequels. Man, everytime someone refers to this series as going into "mummification" or "zombie" mode it still bothers the fuck out of me to no end....I gotta work on that huh?

Bah, @raspy for still not watching the review. Bah.

I think Revenge of the Sith was better than Episodes I or II, but it had so much goofy stuff in it that I'm willing to overlook it a little in my "gradually declining over time" comparison. It's a minor uptick in quality. Not statistically significant.

Oh, and when you said it was a modern episode I was expecting HD. Revenge of the Sith had badass Palpatine, my favorite character in all of Star Wars so that's all it needed to have for me.

Yeah, yeah I'm awful blah, blah. I will say that when Jean bashes the prequels on the commentary I was surprised no one on here called him out on that for being a hypocrite, they only called him out on bashing the Principal and the Pauper which is strange because people around here rarely if ever miss an opportunity to bash him or this series.

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with regards to the "bashing" this episode recieves.

Well you've got the support of every member here except for me, but I got the reference. I don't care how bad Hayden Christansen was or however his name was spelled. Ian McDiarmid was awesome.

I'm not allowed to be labeled a "Jean hater" after my overly-gushy review of I D'ohbot.

I'm just trying to be Fair and Balanced here.

Ummm your review of an episode that's commonly considered to be one of his best makes you immune? I don't really agree with that at all.

And maybe I'm just not being thick skinned enough here but it seems to me like you're saying I'm not fair and balanced. Well you're probably right about that so fair enough I suppose...really depresses me though.

Well, to be fair, it finished 19th on our Post-Classic poll, so we'll call it fairly well-regarded. And ironically, if you look at my vote in that thread, I didn't even put it in my Top 25 at the time.

The point I'm trying to make is that there are a lot of Jean Era episodes (particularly in Seasons 13-15) that I really like a lot. If I was that gushy about an episode not in my Top 25, then I would certainly have a lot of nice things to say about other Jean episodes. Hell, I was even pretty nice to The Great Louse Detective.

I haven't done a single overly negative review of a post-classic episode in 29 episodes. Just let me have this one.

Nah, it wasn't about you. I was just joking about justifying that by doing one positive review of a Season 15 episode, and one negative one, I'm going to call myself Fair and Balanced now.

To be totally fair here as well, I've never even seen Jims actually go off on this episode, so much in that I was looking forward to a rant, because he's only given me very vague reasonings of why he hates it.

I actually watched it the other day and I really have very little opinion of it. Homer does something that he would do in the Scully era and the jokes are mainly awful, the satire languid and unintentionally hilarious... it's basically the worst parts of Scully and Jean together, but at the same time that just makes for something incredibly forgettable. At least for me.

I haven't seen it in a while, but I enjoyed it the last time I saw it, but that was before I realized how much of a dick Homer was here. This probably is the worst thing he's ever done. I don't think I hate the episode, though, because I remember finding it kind of funny.

I think "Kidney Trouble" is his lowest point, but this comes close.

Kidney Trouble is close, but that episode's hilarity, and the fact that Homer was just scared and it was clear he always wanted to do the right thing make it a great episode.

I can respect no man who thinks Homer is better in kidney trouble than co-dependance day.

Wait. Switch those around. Cbf backspacing.

It's just a dull, dull, dull, dull, dull, dull, dull, dull episode. Btw, I didn't get the sneak for your next review. What was it?

I just enjoyed a couple of your video's, they have a great rhytm to them. Very nicely done.

In Co-dependents Day, they do actually kinda address/make fun of the irony/hypocrisy of them attacking Star Wars/George Lucas. That 'plot' ends with Lisa and Bart heading off to the Simpsons show office building next after converting Randall Something

I need something to do tomorrow night after iSketch/etc. so I'll go on a 60 second Simpsons Marathon, listening to Jims' voice for about an hour, to know what he thinks about the show.

When watching the video, I noticed @Jims seemed to be talking slower than usual. It made me wonder how he'd fit everything in at that pace.

That's one of those things where I can dig the meta-reference that shows them they have a sense of humor about it... But I still struggle with how adamant they are about the show not declining (much like Lucas does). I feel like I would've given them more of a pass if this subplot were in a good episode like "Special Edna", but being so actively attached to a shitfest like this one... Is really bad timing on their part.

It's a secret! I'll give a clue, though. I snuck it in the 30 second portion where I am reviewing (and not in the credits/intro/30 silence sections). Think about where I would try to hide something, if I were trying to...

Haha, yeah. Usually I don't think about the actual delivery much when I do these videos, but I thought really hard about how to say what I want to say here. I ended up going with a very deliberate, matter-of-fact way of doing it, almost like I'm a professor delivering a lecture.

I feel like I know exactly where you would've snuck the clue in. But I count only 28 frames of different reviewed episodes, and that's after much pausing and scanning.

@Financial Panther Jims is doing "Simpson Safari", it's pretty obvious if you think about it
