Heh, I actually kinda agree about Goode Family's issues, in a way. I only truly liked half the episodes, with the first couple being fairly bland and uninteresting especially. The Freegan one, the lesbian one, and the tagging one were the ones that stand out in my mind as highlights. It wasn't a hilarious show and the characters were kinda bleh at times, but I thought Gerald had his moments essentially playing the "twig boy" role, but in the protagonist position. I thought there was some pretty fun satire of Whole Foods, the hipster/artist scene, and the extremes of the green movement and the social aspects that have gone along with it. I think the show may have awarded the Goodes too much credit though in giving them happy endings and making them out to be always right in the end. The show could have been way more subversive while still showing the good intentions of hyper-liberalism and environmentalism. It was a show with a unique and relevant premise and angle to it, which is why I liked it, but it fell short of its potential and came off soft most of the time.

As for Home Movies, I can't watch the first season with the squiggly animation. It was a huge turn-off. I did watch some of the later episodes though and usually enjoyed it enough.
    Signature.

I pretty much agree with Tomacco 100% on The Goode Family.

Also, Kiyosuki's B^U reference for MacFarlane is spot-on and gave me a big laugh. I've been following a lot of webcomic feedback and MacFarlane and Tim Buckley definitely have a large amount of similarities (that said, I started watching American Dad on Netflix while bored and it's got a fair amount of good stuff to it, once you get used to the premise and sarcastic tone of humor).

I'm still willing to give Bob a chance; it's important to remember how most shows (that aren't Futurama) need a few episodes to really find their footing, so hopefully they realize where they want to go with the show.

Pardon my stupidity, but what was the B^U supposed to symbolize? I'm definitely missing something. Presumably something way awesome.

I think Bob's probably shot itself in the foot with that animation, honestly. Past the squigglevision, at least, Home Movies worked well enough on Adult Swim because a lot of the animation there was already purposely minimalistic and made to match the "weird for the sake of weird" vibe that most shows there go for; on a network, though, it just comes off as out of place and I'm not sure mainstream audiences would really be that accepting of it. Even South Park would have never flown on a major network, I think (well, it wouldn't for other reasons as well). Basically, on Adult Swim and other cable shows, I think the audience appreciates it as "haha, look how cheap the animation is!" whereas the FOX audience is just going to think "eww, look how cheap the animation is!" They made a huge miscalculation with it.

It's a shame, because although I wish the whole "nuclear family" setup would just leave television for a while, something does need to knock the MacFarlane stuff of its pedestal a little. I don't really expect decent animated shows out of FOX anymore, though.
Two eyes, two ears, a chin, a mouth, ten fingers, two nipples, a butt, two kneecaps, a penis. I've just described to you the Loch Ness Monster. And the reward for its capture? All the riches in Scotland. So I have one question: why are you here?

It originated with numerous detractors of the infamous webcomic "Ctrl-Atl-Delete," where the author/illustrator (Tim Buckley) would use that stock expression often. So B^U became a criticism for the lack of expressiveness, basically, and it can pretty much apply to the MacFarlane look being identical across his three shows.

Yeah, I thought it was supposed to a face, but it took me a while since I was looking for the testicle chin and wondered if the "B" was supposed to be it.

A familiar sight on film and TV production locations, the Fatmobile is no stranger to the entertainment community, catering meals to enthusiastic casts and crews, including a recent set visit to GLEE.

The newest addition to FOX’s Sunday Animation Domination lineup, BOB’S BURGERS opens Sunday, Jan. 9 (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The series follows a third-generation restaurateur, BOB (H. Jon Benjamin), as he runs Bob’s Burgers with the help of his wife and their three kids. Bob has big ideas about burgers, condiments and sides, but only a few thoughts on customer service and business management. Despite his greasy counters, lousy location and occasionally spotty service, Bob is convinced his burgers speak for themselves.

Even though business is slow, Bob gets to work with his family. His wife, LINDA (John Roberts), supports Bob’s dream through thick and thin (but truth be told, she’s getting a little sick of the thin). Their eldest daughter, TINA (Dan Mintz), is a 13-year-old hopeless romantic with minimal social skills. Middle child GENE (Eugene Mirman) is an aspiring musician and a prankster who serves up more jokes than burgers. Their youngest, LOUISE (Kristen Schaal), is the most enthusiastic about her dad’s business, but an off-balance sense of humor makes her somewhat of a liability in the kitchen.

BOB’S BURGERS is a 20th Century Fox Television production. The series was created by Loren Bouchard (“Home Movies”). Bouchard and Jim Dauterive (“King of the Hill”) serve as executive producers and writers. Anthony Chun (“King of the Hill”) directed the pilot. Become a fan of the series on Facebook at www.facebook.com/bobsburgers and follow the series on Twitter at www.twitter.com/bobsburgersfox.

I can't believe that FOX is trying to overpromote Bob's Burgers like this. They are even copying a promotion similar to when they turned 7-11 stores into Kwik-e-Mart for The Simpsons Movie but it was done to only 11 stores in the USA and 1 store in Canada. Fox must be really confident or they are hiding behind a potential failure.

They could've done this with a better known burger chain like McDonalds, Burger King, or Wendys. There are less than 100 Fatburger restaurants in the world.

I haven't watched the preview clip, but I can't help being excited for this show. John Benjamin, Eugene Mirman and Kristen Schaal are all involved with the show. I agree with most people here though, if it's anything like Home Movies it will defiantly fail.

Fox has been pushing this thing really hard.. They must have a ton of faith in it for some reason.
I barely saw any commercials for SDSU - I rarely watch network TV, but have still seen dozens of commercials for Bob's Burgers. They'll be advertising it a bunch this weekend during football I imagine.

    I'll be watching it tomorrow.
"Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."

One of the promos I saw yesterday had a child dressed as a burger ask, 'Do I still have toilet paper on my buns?" That sounds like lazy writing.

I'm watching it now. But this is a steaming pile of garbage. The women don't sound like women. I am sure there were done by men. This is rated PG, yet a molesting gag that goes on for about 10 minutes. This show is serious bullshit.

Watching...pretty meh...feel a bit like an upscale (in a minimal) version of thoses cartoon you get on Adult Swim (which probably what they were aiming for), cheap animation that end making dialogue the only way you can convey jokes the point that things become very very wordy leading to everything being dragged and repeated (although its not as bad as some of those show), everyone a retard and/or a douche

But hey it left me a bigger impression than any cleveland show episode so...I don't think it will be anything memorable but kinda can't get rilled up about it

The episodes over. Can't even write a review about it. I'm baffled at how horrible this was. I'll give it a week.

I can't believe I watched the whole thing!

This first episode is really terrible. It resembled one of those "Barth's Burgery" sketches from You Can't Do That On Television stretched out. Is that all the show has to offer?

Simply awful. I kept squirming in my chair, waiting for it to be over. I did like the toothpick thing, though.
