So I would hope that when it comes time to release these on DVD, they take a "production season" approach rather than a TV season approach and put the 20 or however many were produced on the season 2 set. Because nine episodes is kind of lame. Then again I'm probably just going to stream them on Netflix so I'll be waiting an extra year or more to see Fox's "season 2" if they do it the "production season" way.

Volume DVDs were a poor concept in FOX's department. I really don't see why they screwed pretty much all American Dad release up until volume 5.

Bob's Burgers is basically just going to do season sets. Loren Bouchard wishes that he made the season one DVD in production code order when he was doing commentary for Burger War. 9 episodes is lame, and FOX really should have begun the show's second season in January, not March.

I agree that randomly chosen episodes thrown into "volumes" is a stupid concept (and especially the Season __ volume 2" shit some shows put out. Jesus), but I still think a "production run season 2" DVD is justified. The only reason this fall's episodes are season 3 is because Fox is calling them that. When I'm watching them I'm just going to be thinking "season 2" the whole time, considering the crew probably hasn't even touched the episodes in a year.

Family Guy gave way to the volume approach for FOX, but it blew up in their face when they realized that Family Guy was the only show they could do that to.

Probably never. Simpsons and Family Guy are the only two FOX cartoons that I've seen do well in the merchandise department......and Futurama back when it was on FOX.
