abortion is a far more contentious subject than the legalization of marijuana. i've yet to hear of any medical marijuana clinics being bombed.

South Park has dabbled with it, I don't think with a message or anything though.

And this, big time. They know it too, which makes it worse.

Also, maybe Fox should abort Family Guy.

Does anyone else get uncomfortable watching Family Guy with all the raunchy penis jokes and whatnot? It's very odd for me because I enjoy South Park, but I guess something in me says there is a time and a place for that, and it's not 8 PM on network TV. I honestly would enjoy the show a lot more if it could still be done tastefully without being too wrong and edgy, similarly to The Critic. I'm all for it being on later on Adult Swim because it seems more suitable and I have nothing against the abortion episode getting shown there, but I just think Family Guy is pushing it a little too much that it either should tone it down or save its "uncensored" episodes for Adult Swim. Hey, I'm sure people were talking exactly like this about The Simpsons fifteen years ago...

What do you think they put in the Bug Juice?
    Bugs?
No they don't. Come on...shut up.

I don't understand how episodes praising atheism are taboo. It's the exact equivalent of those Praise the Lord preachers on TV.

Thinking of children is the main cause of abortion.

I just watched that! But the show didn't really have a message.

I was obviously being spurious, I just meant the episode wasn't really that controversial and they banned it for a stupid (and essentially non-existent) reason. The only major outcry was from Disney about the song rip-off.

Must be an American thing. In Britain it's comparatively a non-issue, most people are pro-choice and the anti-abortion people don't have as big soapboxes as the US obviously does

Same with Switzerland. People just don't care.

Anyone else think that they made this episode purposefully to get it banned, you know to generate more DVD sales and what not.

    yea maybe now, i don't know i stray away usually. All i know is that some Fox Executives {not you Fox Executive }thought the episode could be misconstrued as anti-Semitic. I've never seen it so i can't judge. I guess i should have said originally how the episode WAS banned, but now aires on occasion {or as you say all the time}

The ban of "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" was a complete waste. If it could've been misconstrued as anti-Semetic, then "Peter Griffin: Husband, Father...Brother?", which wasn't banned, could've been miscontrused as racist.

More details on the stupid episode:

The controversial "Family Guy" abortion episode that Fox has declined to air next season features matriarch Lois Griffin acting as a surrogate mother for an infertile couple. The couple is then killed in a car crash, leaving Lois with a tough decision.

The episode (titled "Partial Terms of Endearment") is "very graphic, very morbid," sources say, particularly about the abortion process.

The episode was originally supposed to conclude on a vague note, with Lois' verdict left unclear. But creator Seth MacFarlane added a coda at the very end, with Lois' husband Peter poking his head into the frame to tell viewers, "She had the abortion."
    What the fuck is this?

Jesus Christ, can this show sink no lower?

Seth, we know you're a liberal, but you don't need to do it down our throats. Satire can be done subtly or intelligently very well ("Sideshow Bob Roberts") rather I agree with it or not--I don't like this in-your-face shit for conservative or liberal views. I'm on the fence about abortion, but this is just bad taste.

Actually Sideshow Bob Roberts isn't very subtle at all; it's just really intelligent, which this FG episode most likely isn't.

You're right, I fixed my post

I was just pointing out that as a person who's fairly conservative, that episode doesn't bother me at all, where as a lot of FG episodes and some recent Simpsons episodes (Bart Mangled Banner, G.I. D'oh)

reading that, i imagine everyone walking out of a room, and Peter coming back in, smiling saying that... then he does his weird stupid laugh...

is this episode gonna be on Adult Swim in like a year or two?

    When IS Family Guy intellegent?

My problem, actually one of my problems, with Family Guy is that the show either uses a hot topic for a few VERY cheap laughs (homosexuality, for example, like Brian's brother and the episode "Family Gay") or to force a message without consent for it or any respect to any opposition ("Not All Dogs Go To Heaven").

This episode clearly sounds pretty cheap, and the ending sounds really bad.

    (BTW, Jacob: great signature)

More than likely it will air on Adult Swim eventually and if not they'll just have another reason to promote their dvds. Either way it's a terrible premise with a simply awful ending.
