    Adventure Time

Pendleton Ward's quirky and charming show pilot, which has adquired a considerable cult following around the internet, has been picked up for a full series on Cartoon Network. It'll premiere in fall of 2009. Ward's currently writing some noir detective stories for it, which is just awesome.

Awesome, I'm looking forward to it! I heard Nickelodeon was originally go to pick this up, but I think Adventure Time is more fitting on Cartoon Network, anyway.

Nope, Nickelodeon just has the rights to the pilot. Coincidentally, it premieres on Nicktoons tomorrow, according to Cartoon Brew. After being shelved for three years.

Shameless bump! While we wait for the fall premiere, the Adventure Time production blog shows a hell of a lot of promise and some truly awesome background art. Also, Nicktoons recently aired Pen Ward's other show pilot, which hasn't been picked up. But it's still awesome.

This starts tonight at 8pm, folks. A couple of episodes ("Business Time" and my personal favorite, "Evicted!") have already been shown as one-time sneak peeks, and based on them, the show looks fantastic and it seems like it'll do justice to the original short. Let's hope it's a hit. WATCH IT.

I don't have any television at all--is there anywhere I can watch this, legally? I'd like to support the show by giving 'em hits, but I'm not sure if there's an actual online episode viewer.

    How was the pilot?

Have they always used "sucks" on CN? I honestly thought it was frowned upon by parents of younger children but they used it pretty frequently

Saw the free episode on iTunes (Trouble in Lumpy Space) as well as two others that aired earlier (Business Time and Evicted) and the half of Slumber Party Panic that's on the site. So far, I like it quite a bit, even though it doesn't quite contain the concentrated charm of the pilot. The series still has a fun, childlike quality to it and the leads are great to watch. I also really dig the animation style, with each episode having at least one particularly impressive visual segment. A few things (like pacing) could be tighter, but I will say that the Evicted episode was the best one of the bunch, and if the show can keep that standard up, it'd easily be one of the best Cartoon Network shows.

Heheh, I remember the kids taking up synchronized swimming in Hey Arnold, and their coach (who frequently mispronounced things) called it "circumcised swimming" at some point.

need to check this out, someone sent me a vid of the pilot on facebook a few months ago and i thoroughly enjoyed it. "let's go back in time...on mars!" or something (probably completely different than that) was my favorite quote.

business time? evicted? what is this, flight of the conchords?

"crap" and i think "sucks" was used a few times on dexter's lab and i think cow & chicken too, back in the day.
    i might be wrong

I saw the first episode, think I'll stay tuned a bit more.
Could be one of the few shows I like on that station.

Yeah, Evicted's probably the best episode. The random humor works well and is played just right

As much as I like this show, it just doesn't contain the childlike charm that made the pilot so good. The immaturity and nuttiness that seemed to have come from a 5 year old has been replaced with....immaturity and nuttiness's that more obviously comes from an adult. It's still a fuuuuuuuuuuun show, though.

Next we just need Chris Reccardi's The Modifyers picked up.

between Chowder, flapjack and adventure time, I'd have to say cartoon network no longer sucks. in fact, it's now as good as it was when it was airing PPG, Johnny Bravo & Dexter's Lab. Maybe better.

I agree for the most part...except Chowder was just canceled.

I'm just glad some companies are actually looking into his ideas. You'd think after his show was canned, nobody would want to hire him again. *points to John K.*

New season starts this Monday. Been watching the 1st season over the past few months and it's easily one of the funniest, most bizarre cartoons out right now. This show's probably the only good thing about Cartoon Network right now.

It also has an awesome bloghttp://frederatorblogs.com/adventure_time/

I just got hooked on this show a few weeks ago. It's quickly become a favorite of mine.

(Anyone else find it a bit strange that the new season is starting so soon after the previous one ended? Not that I'm complaining or anything.)
