The Simpsons Game Launch Celebration! NEW PICTURES

Come to the Universal CityWalk on October 30th starting at 8:00pm for a chance to play and purchase a copy of the brand new; The Simpsons Game! With over 40 minutes of animated cut-scenes straight from the artists of the TV show and movie and 16 episodes of a hilarious interactive adventure, this game is packed with the spoofs, parody and humor fans will love! Electronic Arts will also be tossing out to the crowd limited edition Homerballs, Simpsons Yellow T-Shirts, and other collectibles! Tune into KIIS FM DJs doing live call-ins, promotions and discussions on The Simpsons Game. With food, entertainment and special guests from The Simpsons TV show, this event will usher in a new era for action-comedy adventure! --- Electronic Arts

I just recieved the above communication from Electronic Arts regarding the launch celebration for The Simpsons Game. They wanted me to pass the word along as apparently part of the celebration will be open to the public for some hands on gaming & a chance to buy the game early:

Incase you missed it in the text... this is only going on in Los Angeles, California (Universal CityWalk)... so if you're in the area... swing by!
I've been accused of vulgarity. I say that's bullshit!

I have bad memories of City Walk. The last time I went to City Walk for something video game related was when Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinakawa (the MGS character designer. I love his style.) were signing autographs. It went so badly though because of the piss-poor planning that it just turned into a hilarious shitfest. No time restriction on how long people could stay in front of the line with him and no restriction on how much they could get signed...which meant that only 1/4 the line got to meet him.

Then to add insult to injury we were all promised at least a poster of MGS3, but they only had enough for 1/2 the line. So the rest of us got our reward for standing in line for three hours in 50-60 degree night temperature, the ability to go into the EB. lol Awww yeah.

Good number of people expressed their anger the only way a Los Angeles resident can, by stealing some stuff.

Well hopefully this one will be more organized for the people attending so it won't be too crazy. Not sure who the "special guests from the TV show" might be... could be staff or voice artists... or could be people in Simpsons costumes haha

Speaking of voice artists... I JUST missed Harry Shearer being in Seattle last Friday... didn't realize he was performing until just afterward... bummer.

If they have them there and I get one (this is considering if I go) I could send it to you. I don't really need or want one all that much.

i would get it for the PS2 then. i have seen some reviews and the console versions seem to be better than the handheld versions.

and i guess the game cube is dead from the software support point of view...

Just got back!! Matt Groaning, James L Brooks, Matt Selman and Tim Long were there. Lots of big TV celebs, I didnt know their names but they were all really familiar looking. Plus small time TV celebs like Webster and the El Polo Loco guy.

Surprised to see how big it was, even the Simpsons family was there!! (guys in suits) Lots of people there, there was a yellow carpet leading into the Hard Rock cafe.

I got 2 HomerBalls, a shirt. Free copys were getting handed out to people who had stupid things in their pockets. The game went on sale at around 9:00and thats when i bought it for the Wii.

An hour later Matt Groaning came in the store and started sighning copys of the game. I was in line for about 10 minutes. I was almost there when Matt suddenly gets up a leaves!!! I ran the front really quick ask him if he can just sign it really quick and he says he didnt have a pen. I was gonna grab the pen off the table he was just at but he already got escorted away by security. The guys at EB games said he was gonna come back. I waited forever and he never came back. There were about 10 of us in line, and he just saids peace and leaves.

Matt Selman and Tim Long came out of the Hard Rock cafe an hour later and I ran up and asked them to sign it. They were acually really cool guys and we even talked about the game for a cool 10 minutes. I asked them if Matty G was still in there and they said he probably left.

The whole event was really exciting and I had alota fun. Just wish Matt didnt leave after signing copys of the game for only 10 minutes. And then not come back when he said he would. But eh, I got the damn game and got signed by people who acually worked on it.

Well I just got back from a 23hr 49min (according to how long my car was in the parking garage at the airport) cyclone of airports, taxis, drinking & very little sleep to attend the launch celebration.

Electronic Arts invited me back to attend the launch party, flew me out & put me up in a hotel... pretty sweet deal. They also brought in a few other community members who run other sites SubSane (CBG's Video Game Collection) & blueduck37 (Simpsons Collector Sector).

We didn't really know what to expect, but turns out we were given pretty much all access to run around inside the restraunt & walk the yellow carpet... pretty cool. We actually met up with Kiyosuki and were able to smuggle him in as well.

Quite a few non-Simpson celebs which was interesting. Fat guy from Borat, some dude from 90210, death-twin dude from Heroes and some others. As well as plenty of the Simpsons staff. No "huge" non-simpsons stars but quite a few famous people and SO, SO MANY hot womens.

We talked to Matt Selman out on the yellow carpet about his interview on Game Trailers and how Rockstar was being punks... he clarified that the whole thing was probably just a bunch of scared lawyers running around being overprotective.

We bumped into Matt Groening a couple times during the party... introduced myself as being from No Homers Club... it took him a minute after that and he did a bit of a double take and basically confirmed that he thinks we're all insane but he appreciates all the fans.

Got a lot of pics that I'll get online... I haven't been home yet. Got up about 4am, hopped on a plane, and went straight to the office. Of course that means I'll have to take time away from actually playing the game unfortunately...

Tim Long and Matt Selaman were really awsome guys.

On my game, Tim wrote: Louie, Ignore your school work, PLAY THE GAME!

Good stuff! Glad you guys got to meet some staff members. Keeps NoHomers on their mind

I probaly would have scripted a ton of questions and tried to get as much of an interview out of everyone as I could.

    Thanks for sharing the pictures.

It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."
