Season Six Best Episode: Part One (Homer: Bad Man Wins)

"Homer: Bad Man". It and "Homer the Heretic" would be the two episodes I would most likely recommend to people who've never seen the show, both encompassing nearly everything I love about the show the most as well as being amongst the most easily accessible episodes I think. Sad it's such an easy choice here though, because I so wanted to give a vote to "Itchy and Scratchy Land".

Really tough. I picked "Grampa vs. sexual inadequazy",although "Homer the great" and "Itchy and Scratchy Land" are close.

    DON'T DO THIS TOO ME!

    Lisa on Ice

Probably the hardest choice for me so far. Homer the Great is probably on equal par, but this episode is just non-stop laughs and I relate to it so much - it doesn't get enough appreciation I don't think.

    I could've easy voted for:

    Treehouse of Horror V
    Bart's Girlfriend
    Homer: Bad Man
    And Maggie Makes Three

    And Maggie Makes Three.

It was the first episode of The Simpsons I ever saw, and after hundreds of re-runs I still love it to bits. It's a great flashback. Homer is characterized perfectly, as is Marge in her extremely limited role. The ending is superb, as is the overall conclusion to the episode. I adore it, it's in my top ten, it easily wins my vote.

No I voted for LISA ON ICE. I love that episode (although just missed out of my top ten).

Toughest choice yet with 5 A+'s to choose from, but I got to give it to AMMT, I find the ending the most touching moment in the series ever. Plus there's so many of my favourite jokes.

Extemely tough choice. I could vote for Bart of Darkness, I&S Land, And Maggie Makes Three, Homer the Great or Barts Girlfriend... so many excellent episodes. I honestly don't know which to pick. I'll sleep on it.

I agree in full. Does the ending to Duffless come close for you?

Homer The Great just beats Homer Badman for me...after all, it did give this message board its name.

Sideshow Bob Roberts got my vote, although Lisa's Rival and Bart's Girlfriend both have 2 of my favorite scenes in the history of the series, yet aren't extremely strong episodes. The scenes are Homer's rant about the sugar and Bart skating down the mountain.

    *Whimpers* Don't make me choose!

But I did choose. Eventually. And I chose Itchy and Scratchy Land. Hot on its heels are Homer Badman and Lisa On Ice. All of these in the poll, I would be happy to see win, with the exception of the clipshow, but even then, that's hardly an abomination of an episode.

Homer: Badman just edges out Lisa On Ice for me. Same reasons as everyone else really.

I couldn't decide between Homer the Great and Homer: Bad Man, but then it was finally Homer the Great. But only because, incidentaly, I just watched it like 5 minutes ago.

    And Maggie Makes Three.

Oh my god, this is one of the toughest choices I have had to make in these polls. At first, I didn't want to be stereotypical and vote for Homer Badman. All of you know, almost all of these episodes are A-level. In the end, it was a very close decision between Sideshow Bob Roberts and Homer Badman, but in the end, I realized it didn't matter whether I was stereotypical or not because Homer Badman really is my favorite out of this first part of season six. Veyr tough choice though.

I picked Lisa on Ice only because I wanted to help it along. Homer: Bad Man is on the same level as Lisa on Ice, but it will win for sure.

And Maggie Makes Three could be the best flashback episode the show has ever had, and considering the competition, that's saying quite a bit. The humor is memorable and lively, and the story is terrific, but what really sells this episode is the frequently changing (but always believable) mood. Watching Homer go from having his dream job, to sadly taking his old job back, to getting his spirits lifted by Maggie's birth never feels forced and we can always feel for his predicaments. The ending is right up there with Mother Simpson as one of the greatest final shots the show has ever had.

The choice here is between Homer: Badman and Sideshow Bob Roberts. I loved the satire in Homer: Badman, it is probably the best the show has done towards the media. Sideshow Bob Roberts isn't as good because the satire isn't as strong as I would have liked. It is funny and has some great parodies, but a little more satire instead of the Archie jokes would have allowed it to get my vote

Wow, tough tough choice here. Every one is excellent, but my top, top picks are:
Lisa's Rival - just a lovely episode, simple as that, backed up by a hilariously silly subplot. the episode is funny on every level
Sideshow Bob Roberts - great satire, probably my favourite bob sideshow episode
And Maggie Makes Three - again, a 'nice' episode. best flaskback episode, funny all the way through and the sweetest ending ever.

After writing this, I think I should have gone for And Maggie Makes Three, but my initial gut reaction told me to vote Lisa's Rival. But they're all winners!
