The chicken part was terrible. It's like they threw a joke in there just for people to feel special because they saw "Da Boom". The initial shock of it was kinda funny, but it took up like 2 whole minutes that could have had 4 or 5 jokes in it. Also, bringing back the vaudeville guy was lame and unfunny for the same reason. andy is exactly right about bringing back 1-time-use characters.

Throughout the episode there were jokes that had great potential to be hilarious, but it seemed that they didn't grab ahold of the opportunity. For example, the "Peter living with Superman" joke. That could have been a riot, but instead they went for a mildly funny piece of dialogue instead. And the Star Wars ending could have been great, but they didn't do anything with it.

Overall I felt that the episode was kinda lame, but I did have a few laughs, I give it a 3/5...

Loved it. The chicken fight is completely out of nowhere......he just randomly tackles Peter mid sentence......

Now if they brought back the Kool-Aid man then they're pushing it....

Well I found the episode to be hillarious. And while many have felt the Chicken gag was perhaps too much, I actually loved it. The longer it went, the funnier it became. Some other great gags too although Peter was only blind for a small portion of the episode - I was expecting him to be blind for a lot longer but the scenes where he was cuddling Chris were brilliant.

    Great show once again.

This was probably the most similar to the classics, and the "continuity" was nice, not just in the episode itself (With the elves and the Rice Krispy guys) but I'm kind of liking the "fanservicing", although the greased-up deaf guy reappearing twice was kinda...eh. The chicken fight had me laughing to tears, as it just came out of nowhere.

    Highlights:
-Quagmire getting caught (He needed his comeuppance)
    -Bonnie's 6-year pregnancy
    -The chicken fight
-The elves and the Rice Krispies ("To Snap...")
    -God's appearances
    -Chris in bed with Peter
    -Peter's line about Scrubs
    -The Star Wars ending

    5/5, great episode.

yeah, i didn't really care for the chicken fight, it just seemed out of place. besides that, it was great. pretty much laughed my ass off throughout, so i can't ask for much more than that. 4/5, second best of the season.

still glad the show is back, but this was the weakest of the bunch. show went nowhere. forcing in old gags because you cant write anything new is fucking weak. 1/5

From Fifteen Minutes of Shame--he's the guy who burst out of nowhere and started spieling about vaudeville: "You know what's dead? Vaudeville. You know what killed it? The moving pictures..."

Are you sure it wasn't from "Holy Crap"? - At the police station when they collect Peter's Dad and the vaudeville guy does a flip and asks them to put a pill in his mouth?

Or have I got confused with the Tumbler guy and the Vaudeville guy?

The tumbler guy and the Vaudeville guy are the same person. And yes, he was from "Holy Crap".

Anyway, some good stuff. The chicken thing was funny, but it went on for a while too long. That paid off, though, when Peter returned and just acted like it never happened. Hilarious. And Quagmire never fails to amuse.

Best of the season although it did seem like they where trying to fit to much plot inot the episode. I loved the chicken fight, the star Wars ending, and most of all Quagmire returning. And this is by far his best ebisode ever. Loved the softcore porno and the line"What's CPR?". Joe wasn't that funny this episode, but cleveland balanced it out. Overall, an amazing episode!

I missed the first act, damn it!

I did like what I saw, however. The best jokes where:
    *Bed scene (jingle, jingle)
    *Scrubs joke
    *Newspaper joke
    *Star Wars Ending

    I give it a 4/5.

Does anyone know when this will air on Adult Swim?

Last weeks was better but this episode wasn't bad. The only real problem I had with this episode was it seems like the whole plot was a bit rushed and everything just happened too fast. But besides that it was still a pretty funny episode. 4/5

I hate to bump a thread like this, but I just saw this episode on Adult Swim last night, and at the end, I was just sitting there dumbfounded, thinking to myself "...Why did Peter fight the chicken again?"

The previous random callbacks in the first two Season 4 episodes were bad enough, but this pushed it too far. There was nothing funny about it - they only put it in for the sake of having viewers remember the first fight from "Da Boom" and laugh at that instead. And it went on for TWO AND A HALF GODDAMN MINUTES - that's two and a half minutes of plot completely wasted. We could have had more sequences of Quagmire's therapy, but no, Peter has to fight the chicken again for no reason other than for the writers to say "Hey, remember this episode? It was funny last time, so it has to be even funnier this time because we've been on hiatus for so long that you'd laugh at anything that references the pre-cancellation episodes!"

I'm starting to wish that "Family Guy" had never come back. The writers are doing absolutely anything they want now, even if it makes no sense or contributes nothing to the plot, because they know they have job security now. FOX isn't gonna take a chance and cancel the show again because they "know" that people will clamor for its return again if it happens. So now "Family Guy" has a permanent spot on FOX's schedule, and the producers are taking the opportunity to throw in the most random and unfunny crap in the world as if to say "Hey, this makes no sense and it's incredibly offensive! What are you gonna do, cancel us again?" For God's sake, storytelling and character development is more important than making FOX feel like idiots.

I probably would've preferred for there to be a motive for Peter fighting the chicken again. Last time, the fight was caused by the chicken giving Peter a bad coupon. Here, it just happened for no reason. I though most of the fight was funny, but it was terribly misplaced.

And as of now, I probably would be rooting for the writers if their intention is to make FOX look like assholes. Remember, this is the same retarded network that took away our beloved Futurama.

Yeah, but the way I look at it, already having cancelled a show that was good is not as upsetting as not being able to cancel a show that was good but is now bad. It's made worse by the fact that the producers are taking advantage of their new immortality by doing stupid stuff like this.

why is the show "immortal" now? if ratings go south again and/or if dvd sales decline, i'm sure it will be cancelled again. fox will not continue to lose money on the show in some odd attempt to save face. so, i don't think the subpar writing can be credited to a "fuck you" to fox.

Well, it's certainly what it feels like. And if it's not an intentional "fuck you" to FOX, then they're still abusing the fact that they've been guaranteed at least 32 episodes and can do whatever they want for that duration without running the risk of being cancelled. And normally, I'm all for artistic integrity, but with all the new FCC regulations on television, "Family Guy" is intentionally trying to get away with as much smut and mature content as humanly possible in order to fly in the face of conventional proceedings, and that's taking away from the quality of the show. I've always felt that story and character are the two most important things in animation (indeed, in all forms of storytelling), and on "Family Guy", that's taking a backseat to the writers' attempts at being as outrageous as possible. It's like they forgot what the show is really about - a dumb guy and his twisted family - and can only remember that the show is supposed to be bizarre in terms of humor. And they've taken that beyond its normal level.

I dunno, this is just me talking.

A classic. Fast Times At Buddy Cianci Jr. High unfortunately wasn't quite as great as I thought before (it went down from a 10 to a 9), but this episode is still fantastic. There is such a plethora of great jokes, even though the plot is all over the place (the main story doesn't kick in until after 10 minutes), like Quagmire's sexual frustration, Joe and Cleveland's odd bowling conversation, Peter walking into the wrong room twice and Gary The No-Trash Cougar (which never will fail to make me laugh out loud). But the best part has to be Cleveland's auction, which just really did it for me. And Peter actually isn't even that cruel in this episode outside of the trash part and the cutaway with Meg. He's a naive child, especially when he doesn't even realize he rescued someone from a burning building, haha. There's something weird about this episode though, and that is that Peter's pals just disappear once he starts swallowing coins. What could be the reason?
Holds up very well, and could possibly even be one of my favorite episodes. 10/10
