    Tomacco episode = E-I-E-I-D'oh (S11)
    Moe surgery = Pygmoelian (S11)

Anyone who's seen Fat Man and Little Boy, is it a Christmas episode?

She reports that the Miracle on Ice never happened. The Miracle on Ice was the United States men's hockey team's defeat of the superpower USSR team in the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY. This was the basis for the movie Miracle.

No, but there's a reference to Christmas. Homer says that Mr. Burns has him working on December 25.

I'm pretty sure it was already mentioned here, so I guess it doesn't warrant it's own thread, but does anyone know why this scene from "'Tis the Fifteenth Season" was changed from looking like this in the original airing:

to this in last night's airing and other subsequent airings (?):

I thought that the first one made more sense because it seemed more like it was a flashback. Anyone know why (or when) they did this?

The one I saw last night (Global's airing in Canada) was the original version.

Speaking of Global, I have seen a few ads (more accurately, one ad several times) that show a clip from the Simpsons that I can't place. It shows Homer falling down the stairs in the Simpsons home with a Christmas tree. Does anyone know what episode it is from? It's been bugging me.

vox- well, ned said that he rented out his house to a fraternity for money for presents... which means he did it recently.. and recently, there was snow. it was a cut-away gag, but set at the same time. itd be incorrect for there not to have snow, which is why they changed it. interesting though, i didnt know they changed this.

Yeah, I've seen that too. I thought it might have been a cut scene from "'Tis the Fifteenth Season", but Jonah didn't mention it in this post:

    http://www.nohomers.net/showthread.php?t=43085

...so either it's one that he missed, one that wasn't in the animatic that he watched, or it's from the upcoming UK Christmas message special. I guess we'll know by Saturday.

Is this rumor true or not: Comic Book Guy's "worst episode ever" was based off of something on a.t.s.

In the one where Marges mum and Homers dad nearly get together, Marge says Abe is Judge frickin Reinhold compared to Mr Burns. The actor? Huh?
Moe: What are you telling us, were trapped like rats?

Russ Cargill: No, rats can't be trapped this easily, you're trapped like... carrots.

    The very same, Miss Springfield.

Marge's fantasy lovers have included Lee Majors, Arnold Palmer, Ned Flanders & the Burly Paper Towel Guy. Judge is in good company...

Pitt the Elder. Barney and Wade Boggs (in Homer at the Bat) are arguing over who is the better British prime minister, Lord Palmerston or Pitt the Elder. It's a rather obscure thing to stage a bar argument over, that's the joke.

There's a scene in She of Little Faith where Lisa is walking toward the screen with a black background, and all these different religions come up in neon lights... This scene is often parodied in other shows, what is it's origin?

    Thanks.

Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk. He says it right after Homer, Bart, and the patrons of Moe's make fun of him.

It was likely first used by German expressionist film-maker Fritz Lang, when he came over to Hollywood in the '20s and made some of the first 'gangland' silent crime movies. He revolutionized, with a few films, the use of stark lighting contrasts and mobile cameras. The effect also appears in the first sound gangster film, "The Lights of New York" (1928).

It was used in many Warner Bros., UPI, and Tex Avery cartoons as well over the years - using just the neon signs. And some films self-conciously used the sign-montage too, such as Coppolla's "One From the Heart", his Las Vegas musical-fable ('81)

By the time OFF first used it - and they've utilized it a good number of times - it was already a standard part of cartoon 'shorthand'.

No. Herb Powell was the result of Abe's fling with a carnival worker a year before he met Mona and had Homer.

In the season five audio commentary, they said that Jim Reardon is at Pixar. When did he leave the show and who is the knew supervising director? Did they return to Silverman?
