A really strong 1st act, dips in quality a touch in the 2nd act but soon hits excellence again in the 3rd act. Really funny episode with some fantastic satire 9/10

The best part of the episode for me was Homer causing a terrible car crash ... other than that just very, very, very mediocre 1/5.
Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

When this first aired, I was astounded at just how bad the Simpsons could become. I'm not sure if it's fair to give this an "F", but in 2010, this could pass off as just another typical Jea episode with a Homer that's a tab more annoying than usual...

    Oh fuck it....F

The episode that marked the loss of menacing Mr. Burns and turned him into a shadow of his former self.
This episode is a sad example of what is going to happen with the show during the coming seasons and it introduces "the wacky third act"-illness from the Scully era.

Luckily the photobooth-sequence always makes me laugh.

I'm sure if this episode aired next week you'd have a different attitude.

Pretty good episode. The ending was a little weak, but I'd still give it a 4/5.

This episode, like Tide, was very boring but it had enough jokes for me to enjoy it. 3/5.

I'm in the minority of fans who really like this episode, its a fun and humerous escape with Homer and Burns in fine form, I think its very much in keeping with Homer's character that he would turn on the IRS and go on the run with Burns and Smithers with the trillion dollar bill.

IIRC this is one of the last episodes to feature the underrated plant worker Charlie (His rant on having a secret militia to bring down the government is hilarious)

The story loses a bit of pace once they reach Cuba, but still merits a 3.5/5 from me.

Like pretty much all of season 9, it's acceptable, but it has enough jokes as to where I can bare to pop it in my DVD player every so often.

This episode actually starts out pretty strong, but it goes to hell as soon as Homer decides to betray the FBI. It also has some not bad, if not very subtle, satire. But that last act is just plain awful. There really isn't much the rest of the episode could have done to redeem it. 3/10

This is probably one of the weakest season 9 episodes. The plot is all over the place. At first, it's some satire on the IRS but then for some reason, Homer and Mr. Burns go to Cuba. Then, the episode ends with Homer and Mr. Burns in the middle of a sea. When I first watched this, I was wondering what the heck was this. The episode just feels pretty off. The jokes were okay, I guess.

    Overall, C.

This is the worst episode of season 9, but it still isn’t that bad. There are still plenty of funny moments in this episode, but the ridiculous third act ruins what could have been quite a good episode. 2/5

This genuinely almost put me to sleep the first time I saw it. The tax stuff at the beginning works well, but from there it descends into typical Scully nonsense with all the trappings. Bad characterisations, oodles of lame gags, pointless silly story etc. What funny moments there are save it from an F, but this is one of those Season 9 episodes that stand out as grimly portentous of what was to come in seasons 10 and 11. The tax stuff at the beginning was really good, would have felt at home in season 4. Once the FBI comes in the episode does a complete 180 and falls apart, with few jokes, terrible characterization and a nonsensical plot. And don't even get me started on that ending, what the hell was that? Just awful. 1.5/5.
