Hard to believe this came out in season 9. Some of the jokes work but the story in general feels quite boring and it doesn't tie all together. The guest stars don't fit in naturally either. 2/5

Sometimes happens. Everyone loves the episode, but I don't. I think it's pretty unfunny.

C+, another "good(ish) but not great" episode from season 9 that's pretty forgettable overall. One bright spot though was "don't you hate pants?", and Bart's impression of Marge. Otherwise, in pretty much all aspects, this episode was simply slightly above "meh".

Another middle of the road Season 9 episode. Good guest stars, like Jay Leno, but lacked energy until the Canyonero song. 7/10.

Pretty well done episode, but not the best season 9 has to offer. 4/5.

It was a holdover from season 8 (but I don't know how you would call season 9 the worst of scully)

I was referring to his carbon-copy post in the Principal and the Pauper thread. Myself, I think it's a great episode, as I do this one.

A pretty solid episode overall, even if not Krusty's finest moment in the show. Although the story is perhaps a bit wishy-washy, and to be honest, it took me a couple watches to fully appreciate this episode, I find the premise intriguing because it examines the character from a more dimensional angle. In contrast to guest star Jay Leno, a successful and popular comedian in real life, Krusty was primarily designed for the purpose of The Simpsons. Up until this point, he was funny only from outside the context of this show. While children like Bart looked up to him for his prominent image and television, when pitted up against competitive stand-up comedians such as Leno, he ends up falling flat. His reliance on corporate promotion has left him uninspired and dry for comedy. It isn't until he starts ranting from the heart that he develops a true sense of humor. By leaving behind his commercial image, he enters a world of dark realism. It is through this realm that he is able to make an honest statement, and this episode reminds us that much of our humor comes from bashing reality and not just witty rhetoric. Krusty ultimately selling out with the Canyonero may seem like a disappointing regression - it certainly was to the audience at Moe's Tavern - but I actually think it tops off his character arc perfectly. Rather than angrily complaining about everything bad about life, he uses his image to vocalize his appreciation for the better things surrounding him. He finds himself more interested in the good instead of the bad.

    4.5/5

Great episode. Only 4/5 because it's dated with the whole ford/Firestone tire thing, and with comics of the time. Still, I love the Canyanero song. For being dated, it's still hilarious.

Given this episode's premise, and the fact that it features several guest stars voicing themselves, this episode could have been terrible. But it was pulled off well enough to avoid that. Not that it is very good, but it is pretty inoffensive (Jay Leno's appearance is relatively subdued), and Krusty's transformation is mildly engaging. 4/10

Voted 4 originally but now I would change it to 3. Just a fairly dull episode to be honest, and easily the worst Krusty episode up to that point.

I really like the premise of this episode, maybe a bit more than its execution. Taking a look at Krusty's style of comedy and him coming to terms with being out of touch was an interesting idea. I usually hate guest star appearances but I'll give them a pass this time, they provided a good contrast between real world, current (at the time) comedy and Krusty's antics. They also felt pretty natural and didn't steal the spotlight. Krusty's new style of angry observational humour suited him pretty well, I thought it seemed like a pretty natural evolution for him. Ironically this episode was pretty light in jokes but I don't really mind when the plot is interesting. The characterization was fine and as Channel Surfer observed there wasn't any filler B-Plot which is always welcome. As far as season 9 goes I'd say this is one of the better ones. 4/5
