Can The Simpsons last 50 years running? Impossible!

Hi everyone!. I read the ajsmith1234's thread about do you think The Simpsons will make it to 1000 episodes and some people thinks that is impossible. Now we go beyond. Can The Simpsons last 50 years on air?. That would happen in late 2039, specifically on December 17, when the very first episode "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" turns 50 years old. For that time the series would have 51 seasons and more than 1150 episodes. Imagine a half century with The Simpsons. Would be the first non-anime cartoon to to last half a century on air. The Japanese anime Sazae-san has been running for more than 51 years and in 2013, the anime holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running animated television series. Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa Simpson has delighted the American animated sitcom’s fans by announcing that she expects it to continue until 2039. But I don't think The Simpsons will make it to half-century running. For the 2039, someone from the main voice cast would have already died and The Simpsons would have already been cancelled years before 2039.

I think that the show would never last 50 years on air. Or yes?. You draw your conclusions. Regards!. = D

I've said before that it could make it to season 50, but, now, the only way of doing this is by putting the show to all new lows. There's no way the show would have all 6 main voicers still in the show at the same time, the only way they would go by is by recasting, or using voice archives, which would be basically recycling the show.
    SEASON 32 SO FAR:

    Undercover Burns: 2.5/5, I, Carumbus: 3.5/5, Now Museum, Now You Don't: 1/5
Treehouse Of Horror XXXI: 5/5 (Toy Gory: 5/5, Into The Homerverse: 2/5, Be Nine, Rewind: 6/5)
The 7 Beer Itch: 0.5/5 - WORST OF SEASON SO FAR
Podcast News: 3/5, Three Dreams Denied: 1.5/5, The Road to Cincinnati: 3/5, Sorry Not Sorry: 2/5, A Springfield Summer Christmas for Christmas: 1.5/5
    The Dad Feelings Limited: 4/5
Diary Queen: 2.5/5, Wad Goals: 2.5/5, Yokel Hero: 2.5/5, Do PizzaBots Dream of Electric Guitars?: ?/5, Manger Things: 1.5/5, Uncut Femmes: ?/5
Burger Kings: ?/5, Panic in the Streets of Springfield: ?/5,
The Man From G.R.A.M.P.A: ?/5, Mother and Child Reunion: ?/5,
    The Last Bar-Fighter: ?/5
    SEASON OVERALL: ???/5

No!! Hell NO!!! Dan Castanella and Julie Kavner would be dead and nobody should be recast.

Theoretically it would be possible (Castellaneta wouldn't necessarily be dead, he might be alive at 82), and let's presume Harry Shearer also makes it to 96.
However, the "if" is so big that the risk is not even close to worth it. The show was unlucky enough in its first ten years losing Doris Grau and Phil Hartman, it's only gotten worse since then with Marcia Wallace and Russi Taylor. It's scary and kinda fucked up that the ages of the cast probably don't matter for the show's legacy to go on.
I like Yeardley Smith, but it's awfully naive of her to expect every single cast member happily wanting to continue until 2039. Shearer is barely even happy being there right now.

Nope. It would suck even worse. Haven't watched it since I left high school all the way back in 2008 and I watched a few episodes and its unrecognizable. Plus marge's voice. Julie Kavner will sound even worse.

They would have a better chance at increasing the duration of the show, if they moved the show's timeframe around a bit.

What I mean is, instead of focusing on the era of their lives that they've been concentrated on for the past 30+ years, it would give the show a great deal of new energy to focus on the Simpson children's lives as teenagers, etc,

40 years at best I would say, 50 would be a bit of a stetch. And who knows how bad the episodes would get if they kept it going for that long.

Probably not much worse than they are already.
