Proof that each Simpsons "prediction" is a coincidence

See social media and conspiracy nuts? It's all a coincidence and the writers didn't intend it. So, people, stop saying the show predicted the future.

    hqdefault.jpg
This disclaimer dates all the way back to the first episode, and Matt Greoning didn't intend ANYTHING for the Tracey Ullman shorts I'm sure:

    images.jpg
It's there so Fox/Disney doesn't/wouldn't have been sued.

These nuts don't read the end credits.

I suppose next you'll be trying to convince us that there's no "curse" where people die after appearing on the show.

The show has been on for so long that it's like Nostradamus's prophecies - if you try hard enough, you can find something that matches anything that happened on the show.

And to be fair, the show did have "President Trump" long before anybody even considered it.

All persons and events are Fictitious. Unless they have a Crystal Ball inside their office, then it is purely made up by them in the first place. They also said that they predicted the raid a few days ago. but that was fake. They literally also consider anything that happens a prediction. "Life Imitates The Simpsons" is a much better way to put it.

They absolutely 'predicted' (#GroeningKnew) 9/11. To not believe so is to have your head willingly in the sand.

Isn't it obvious guys?? Matt Groening invented the time machine he went into the future and wanted TO WARN US, he made The Simpsons to WARN THE PUBLIC OF FUTURE EVENTS. FOX is aware of this and the only reason The Simpsons is still on TV is to WARN THE PUBLIC of the COMING TERROR AND APOCALYPSE.

In all seriousness, it’s pretty odd that it’s the only show who’s jokes end up becoming a reality. You’d think family guy and southparks would be more in the nose with their pop culture references, with help from their longevity as shows.

The fact that nearly the only time Simpsons is ever mentioned anymore is when it “predicts” something makes me incredibly sad. Its relevance in pop culture is almost completely gone, the show only being mentioned by the Cletuses of the world guffawing at the ACCURATE PREDICTIONS.

The nuts who think Simpsons are psychic annoy the hell out of me. The prediction claim that bugs me the most is about a stunt Lady Gaga pulled on stage 5 years later. First of all, it's so in line with her performance style that a "prediction" like that doesn't seem that hard to make, just have Gaga do some crazy stuff and some of it probably ends up being realized. Secondly, she might very well have taken inspiration from the episode as well and thought it would be cool to use at an actual concert.

As for the Donald Trump moment in Bart To The Future, that joke is not very shocking since he was a very prominent figure as early as the 80's, and pretty much felt like a politician to the point where some people were like "Heh, imagine if this guy was president". People joking around about him being president most likely happened way before it aired. But to make matters worse, whenever this prediction pops up those buffoons share a screenshot that clearly comes from the HD era! Is the public so stupid they can't tell such an obvious difference between digital and hand-drawn animation?!

I agree that it's sad this is the low level of relevance they are at right now, but the show has been grasping at straws for ideas for so long and become so out-of-touch with reality that nobody can take it seriously anymore besides using it for braindead conspiracy theories.

@714MatchesFound South Park and Family Guy get used for predictions too, though not as often. I hate when people think Family Guy "predicted" Robin Williams' suicide. Ridiculous and disrespectful.

I think it's obvious that these predictions are more or less pure coincidence. There will of course be those who sees the predictions as real and I'm fine with that even though I disagree it is actual predictions (and if I'm not mistaken, Disney+ even has a "predicts" category for the episodes. I don't have the service so I'm not completely sure).

i may be a conspiracy nut but that doesn't mean the simpsons has actually predicted anything. the fact that people pin this stuff on groening when he hasn't actually done anything is what's more funny to me

The Simpsons has been on so long some things are bound to strongly resemble real events. It also predicted a lot of things that haven't happened. So far as I know none of these things have happened-

nobody has tried to frame a clown for robbing a convenience store
    a baby hasn't shot a billionaire
    we don't have robot librarians
nobody's perpetrated a "kid fell down a well" hoax
there hasn't been a team of baseball superstars working at a nuclear power plant
no summer camps have been taken over by campers
a child beauty pageant winner hasn't been stripped of her crown for protesting cigarettes and political corruption
no radio station has had to give a contest winner an elephant
the U.S. hasn't gotten into a dispute with Australia over a prank phone call
no ten year old boys with fake IDs have rented cars that ended up being crushed under Sunspheres
no ten year old boys have worked as couriers to get home after wrecking their rental cars
the Loch Ness monster hasn't been captured and put to work in a casino
Marge, it takes two to lie, one to lie and one to listen.

Yeah, I largely agree for the most part. Most Simpsons prediction stories are reaches that have little basis in reality.
And then... we get something like this...

    SEASON 32 RANKINGS
    Undercover Burns - 2.5/5 / I, Carumbus - 4.5/5 / Now Museum, Now You Don't - 1.5/5
    THOH XXXI = Toy Gory - 5/5 / Into the Homer-verse - 2/5 / Be Nine, Rewind - 4/5
    The 7 Beer Itch - DUD/5 / Podcast News - 3/5 / Three Dreams Denied - ???/5 / The Road to Cincinnati - ???/5
    Sorry Not Sorry - 3.5/5 / A Springfield Summer Christmas for Christmas - 4/5 / The Dad-Feelings Limited - 4.5/5

    It's a coincidence, @Brad Lascelle.

(Seriously though, it's at least a little weird how that one turned out).

Or, perhaps the designers intentionally designed Kamala's outfit to look like Lisa's.

Technically not the same. Lisa's shirt is grey, plus formed like a turtleneck. Plus she always wears a pearl necklace, so that was bound to be there anyway.

Also, it is not a proper prediction, mainly because Lisa was the president, and Kamala is only the vice president. But I do sorta understand that it is based on the clothing more.

@Trab Pu Kcip, or maybe Lisa used to be vice president before she became president? Just a thought. We'll probably never know.
