My Idea of a Simpsons Golden Collection

Let's pretend the show’s home media releases were distributed not by season, but by theme, akin to the marathons on FXX. Believe it or not, I got the inspiration for this from my Looney Tunes Golden Collection.

Each set would contain 4 discs, and each disc would contain 5 episodes, since that is the equivalent to an average movie length. The themes of each disc are unique, in that there are very few of their kind (at least the amazing ones). Disc One revolves around the core Simpson family. Disc Two gives credit to a particular writer. Disc Three centers around a character(s) outside the family. Disc four contains satire on a particular aspect of society. They are also in order of airdate. Obviously, no episode can be repeated.

Like the Looney Tunes Golden Collection, this wouldn’t come close to covering every episode; but it would cover the majority of its best. Here’s my idea for a Simpsons Golden Collection Set.

Only 4 episodes dude. Duffless, sweet Seymour skinner, principal charming, and 18th amendment were in mine. The rest are totally your own!

Replace sweet seymour and principal charming with Special Edna and Skinner's Sense of Snow.

Replace Duffless and 18th amendment with Homer the Moe and Days of Wine and D'oh'ses.

    That should be fine.

I can kinda get having Days instead of 18th because of it's canonical significance, but how is Homer the Moe better/more significant/more boozy than 18th?

It's not. He needed to replace them because they were already in the original post.

My bad I was wondering why someone on this forum could be so positive about Homer The Moe, an episode with some good Scully humor, but ultimately too boring and unoriginal to be above average

Was gonna suggest eternal moonshine, but that isn't really alcohol themed enough to be on the list.

crazy! i actually had this idea on my own a while back before i joined the forum, based on the looney tunes golden collections. (i've bought those, i'm a huge fan of classic warner bros cartoons). i've always been interested in the idea of a release like this for such a long running show as the simpsons.

i'll continue with a 7th volume, similar in style to the ones previously posted.

    VOLUME 7
    Disc 1: Springfield Mysteries
    1. The Springfield Files
    2. Lisa the Iconoclast
    3. Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind
    4. Who Shot Mr. Burns (Part One)
    5. Who Shot Mr. Burns (Part Two)

    Disc 2: Money Madness
    1. Marge Gets a Job
    2. $pringfield
    3. Scenes From the Class Struggle in Springfield
    4. Grift of the Magi
    5. Last Exit to Springfield

    Disc 3: Mob Mayhem
    1. Homie the Clown
    2. The Twisted World of Marge Simpson
    3. Mayored to the Mob
    4. Trilogy of Error
    5. Poppa's Got a Brand New Badge

    Disc 4: Horror Stories
    1. Treehouse of Horror III
    2. Treehouse of Horror IV
    3. Treehouse of Horror V
    4. Treehouse of Horror VI
    5. Treehouse of Horror VII

i was gonna include "the blunder years" on disc 1 and "the trouble with trillions" on disc 2 but i figured the replacements were more popular episodes if a bit less fitting to the theme (i figured last exit makes sense bc its about unions, therefore money related in some capacity, and lisa the iconoclast has a "mystery" element in unraveling it all)

edit: i just realized i included trilogy of error twice. welp, changing disc 4 a bit. i love that episode too much lol

I noticed no HD episodes in any of these. Are you trying to keep it to SD for stylistic purposes or is it irrelevant?

Irrelevent. I literally just came up with another volume and that one has quite a few HD ones. It's in the edited first post.

Pretty cool but I have a question: what is the idea? Covering the best/classic episodes or every episode of the show?

It won't come near to covering every episode but it will cover most of the best episodes.

Covering any episode from the show and grouping it with episodes from any other season to form a theme, such as Simpson Family Backstories

I had the initiative to start a single post-classic set. I started and couldn't stop so I made four and was finishing the fifth when I thought I needed to stop. Hope you like them 714MatchesFound. Discs with six episodes includes one of the classic era so you can include them or not if you like. It was really funny to try out and I really liked your idea.
