    Season 30 Emmy Submissions

Here are the Emmy submissions I have found so far:

Animated Program - Mad About the Toy

Comedy Series Writing - Bart's Not Dead; Daddicus Finch

for whatever reason, the show did not enter in any of the music categories, with the possible exception of "music & lyrics" (i.e. original song), which does not make its entries public.

Note that the entries for voiceover and individual achievement in animation are also not made public.

These are just the submitted episodes; the nominations themselves will be announced Tuesday 7/16.

Mad About the Toy and Daddicus Finch are good choices. It’s shocking they didn’t enter a song category that we know of because of the sheer number of songs in the season.

We don't know if they entered any songs, and unless one is nominated, probably never will - the song (er, "Music & Lyrics") category entries are not made public, since all songs have to go through a screening panel rather than a vote of the Academy's musicians.

'Daddicus Finch' is a pretty solid pick (it was after all one of the best reviewed episodes of the season) and while 'Mad About The Toy' is a decent choice I think they should've gone with another one as I didn't think it was that good, just okay at best. 'Girl's In The Band' or even 'Baby You Can't Drive My Car' would've been a good alternate.

Didn't they only submit one episode last year? They must've felt Season 30 was an improvement.

I am under the assumption that, while the staff chooses which episode to submit for Animated Program, each episode's credited writers decide on their own whether or not to submit for Comedy Series Writing.

Keep in mind that it normally costs $225 to submit an entry for one person, or $425 for one shared by two to four people, but each Academy member appears to get two "free" entries (for a shared entry, that applies only to their part of the fee).

I do not see Mad About the Toy with enough potential to win the prize. Not after geniuses like Holidays of Futute Passed, Halloween of Horror and Gone Boy are left empty-handed. And it's a shame, because Rick & Morty, who will always be the favorite for his popularity, did not have premieres this year. Still, I do not see anyone in this season so remarkable for this award. And this choice is understandable given that Homer's Phobia and Three Gays of the Condo have won the award. Maybe, Daddicus Finch or Girl's in the Band would be my choices, although I doubt that the jury likes such direct parodies.

I can understand the submit in the category of Comedy Series Writing after the explanation provided by @That Don Guy. I think Daddicus Finch deserves recognition in some ceremony. Bart's Not Dead is not that good, despite the fact that WGA awarded it this year.

What about the other animated shows?

'Bart's Not Dead' is another rather surprising choice. Don't get why that one was picked (let alone got that award); it was just decent at best and actually somewhat forgettable in my opinion. Episodes like '101 Mitigations' and 'Wohoo Dunnit' had better writing and were more memorable to boot.

I get why they picked Bart's Not Dead for the best writing. It has some pretty clever writing with the spoof of the production for that type of movies (not the most clever but still pretty wel thought out) and the place of Bart's lies in all that misunderstanding. But maybe I'd also picked Woo-hoo Dunnit ? if I had the choice. Not my favorite from the season, but this one is quite memorable, has a strong and interesting concept that is overall well executed and well paced, so it's worthy of a nomination in my opinion. I'm glad they picked Daddicus Finch by the way, though a little surprised, it's a pretty simple episode after all.

The live announcement of the major categories is at 11:30 AM Eastern. The full list should be available on the Emmys website by noon.
    That's on Tuesday, July 16

Also, there are two other categories in which The Simpsons has been submitted:
Comedy Series Casting (for the entire season)
Half-hour Comedy/Drama Series & Animation Sound Mixing (for Werking Mom)
