Actually, Egg, I really love the sound of bluegrass, but I still don't listen to it that much

No, you REALLY don't know what you're talking about. Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr, Hank III, and whatever flavor of the month nu-country crap is on the radio are all technically "country". They're night and day in terms of quality and what they do within the genre, though.

Not southern rock (Eagles) just plain ol' country. I hate.
Where the fuck do you think Southern rock came from?

Hate the vocals, hate the melodies.
I can understand disliking a particular accent, but not all country singers have the same accent. Get your head out of the pop-country stuff and you will hear a lot more variety than you might expect.

southern rock is an extremely small sub genre though, eagles are not southern rock. creedence clearwater revival are not southern rock, in fact they predate it.

lynyrd skynyrd, alabama, charlie daniels, allman brothers, black oak arkansas, .38 special, molly hatchet, georgia satellites. those are southern rock, acts that actually originated from the south.

from what i can tell it's mostly what is now umbrella'd under the term "classic rock", mainly album oriented rock and progressive rock. he likes stuff like rush and pink floyd and yes. not even saying he's a fan of "rock" in general because that is so broad. does he like glam rock? punk rock/ska/new wave? metal? i don't know.

I like David Bowie and Queen, they're glam rock, and I like some metal.
You're a dolt with the IQ of a peabrain that probably loves lowbrow sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, Frasier and Seinfeld to not grasp the biting satire and wit of the classic 65 (Rugrats).

not sure i'd call queen glam rock, was thinking more along the lines of slade or new york dolls or something. though yes david bowie was glam rock in the early to mid 70s, he kind of shifted away from it later in his career though.

Bowie has also been folk, synthpop, post-punk, dark-ambient, funk, industrial, and jazz. He spent 3 years of a 50-year career being glam. You sure you actually listen to David Bowie there pal? You sure Low and Outside have enough MELODY for you?

yeah guys I appreciate the effort but there's no point when the response has literally no insight or analysis.

also lmao at Mr Dad Rock complaining about a genre all sounding the same

The reason why I didn't like the songs was the same for all, boring melodies.

I mean, like I said at the start, I'm not using this thread to try and pander to Egg (or Chris). Glad to just use it to share more tunes that are likely not to their liking.

I think the Beatles have boring-ass melodies on 95% of their songs and most of them sound the same but I guess I'm just objectively wrong because it's not rap

We should all be proud of Egg for getting into the Halloween spirit. After all, his opinions are scarily bad.

    More opinions:
The Wyclef Jean song isn't rap
John Denver's not country, he's folk
The Shania Twain song wasn't country or good
    Replay's not rap
You Don't Want War had a bland melody
    Hereditary wasn't rap
Midwest Choppers was just plain and boring
    Revolution had a bland melody
Neither country song was good, both were just boring

This thread has gone on far enough. I think it should stop. I'll take no part in continuing.

I think you should be less of an arrogant, simple-minded dumbass but, well, to put it in language you might understand being all about the dad rock, "you can't always get what you want"
