Yeah I'm still pretty excited about this. And it's already been said but it will almost definitely be something different from Simpsons and Futurama so wondering wth it could be

@Rehpotsirhc check your Netflix and go to the "Netflix Originals" section. Cross reference it with the Wikipedia list of Netflix Originals and if you see everything that's listed on there, then guess what? You don't have to worry about Sweden not getting this new Matt Groening show.

I was going to mention this, but looks like Shaunbadia beat me to it. Still though, if a show is a Netflix exclusive then I'm pretty sure that it's accessible by every country that has Netflix.

Or perhaps the series is a mystery as nobody knows yet what would be about.

No I know that is the case. But when they said "The mystery series", at first I read "mystery" as being the genre.

What if it were a Simpsons spinoff? What if it were it?!
"You're perfect! In fact, you're better than perfect! Next to you, perfection is crap!"

It was said in a 1997 episode. But if it were said in a recent episode (from the mid 2000s to for now), I'd take it as irony.

I don't believe in modern Simpsons nor golden era: I'm an atheist

Part of me wonders if he's gonna use his freedom from Fox to finally make that Life in Hell cartoon he was originally going to do - as a longtime fan of the comics that would be pretty cool to see, but I also don't know how the format of the comic would translate into a TV show (unless of course they went a straight-up sitcom route and just used the characters)

Either way, I'm looking forward to a new Groening show whatever it is, and if it's serialized and lacking network censorship then all the better.

Looking forward to it. F is for Family is living proof that Netflix can be the perfect platform for Simpsons auteurs to try new things, given enough creative freedom.

And no, I don't see Netflix reviving Futurama (even though they gave The Killing a second chance). But seriously, am I the only one who thinks Futurama had the perfect and definitive ending?

Not crazy about the final Futurama episode but I don't really think it needs to come back either, just let it lie and move on.

I wonder What the hold up with this show is, could it be the fact that Hulu is buying up all the rights to most cartoons may be Hulu and Netflix were in a bidding war to see who gets the rights to Groaning's new show? Or could Groaning have been waiting to see which Streaming Service came out on top before signing on the dotted line? Looks like Hulu came out on top when It comes to Adult Themed Cartoon Sitcoms, although Netflix has the Disney deal...

I think that Groening realised that no animated comedy could ever reach the heights of The Simpsons season 28. So he pulled the plug.

That and there has been no development in a long time, it's safe to say this is pretty much dead.

in the articles about new Futurama but not a show or movie they brought up that the show was still Happening. I don't think Groaning has much to do with the Simpsons anymore where as Futurama was his baby, hence why the show was solid for 8 seasons If you include the movies. FOX I believe pulls the strings on the Simpsons now and I think Groaning wants a show he has way more creative freedom of I think that's why eventually we will see a Groaning show on streaming TV where Groaning calls the shots.

I'd love to see the spin off of Chief Quimby and Principle Skinner fighting crime in The Big Easy.

Sorry guys but I think the new show doesn't exist. Remember a couple of week ago when the futurama team made a AMA in Reddit. Somebody asked Matt about an upcoming show and this is what he answered:
New show question! Here you go: When I was a kid, my mom got annoyed at dinner when my brother and sisters and I kept asking what was for dessert. She'd always say, "Strawberry Surprise." Then, when she served the dessert, she always said, "Surprise! No strawberries." But finally Mom got so aggravated that her new line became: "Surprise! No dessert." What I'm trying to say is: Stay tuned for "Strawberry Surprise." Sincerely, Matt
I mean It can be interpreted differently but I believe he is saying there will be no show

Here it is so you can read it

The new show is Groening Surprise. That simply means there is no new show coming.

Very cool! I kind of hope they stick with his animation style. It worked for Futurama. Josh Weinstein on board sounds great.

edit: "The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit and we think it's a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans."
