    Zootopia

rich moore (wreck-it ralph) and byron howard (tangled) directing

I think this movie is going to be great. WIR is my favorite WDAS-era film so Moore's attachment just makes it all the more sweeter.

Wait, I though we were already discussing Zootopia in the WDAS/WDFA Thread? (but I suppose it deserves it's own thread). Anyway, I still stand by my opinion that it does look like a lot of good fun so it's surely one to see.

Since they are all mammals, anyone else wonder where all the other types of animals are (reptiles, birds, insects, etc.)?

yea the ending godfather bit was kind of iffy, but I liked the last line, at least the reading of it. hopefully it plays better in the film itself

the rest is just really great

I liked the Sloth trailer that played before Star Wars. I mean the joke is lame and obvious (teehee he talks slow) but still managed to get chuckles out of me.

That rabbit girl's face is too cuddly cute, I can't take it ahhhh. I need rabbits in my life.

who designed the characters in this film, was it the same people who did bolt? i get that it's the same studio but the characters look a lot like bolt characters; the bunny is the cat and the fox is bolt.

I Love Love Love the Rabbit!! .. my finest long eared friend ever was a bossy, bounding, beautiful female house rabbit of almost 10 years, A girl bunny wanting respect as a law enforcer doesnt seem like such a big stretch for me considering my experiences... I'll see this thinking of you, my lost long eared friend!

It's wonderful, and as incredibly charming as it is constantly hysterical. I think it just barely tops Wreck-It Ralph as my favorite WDAS-era film. Rich Moore is the best thing that's happened to Disney in a long time.

Rabbits are basically animals made for cute cuddles. I mean, who can resist their damn faces...

Anyway, I just saw that this movie premiered in my country. Gonna try to move my ass to the cinema this week-end.

A few weeks ago I read an article on Cartoon Brew about some complaints involving the excessive "sexiness" of this movie
There’s an interesting thread on Reddit with commenters discussing what makes Zootopia especially furry-friendly. The original poster began by asking, “Is it just me, or is Zootopia suspiciously furry. Like not just trying to be a cartoon about anthro animals, but a cartoon specifically targeted for FURRIES.” .... That thread raises an interesting question: To what extent are Zootopia’s filmmakers aware that they are stoking an adult community of fans? Unlike earlier animal-centric Disney films like Robin Hood and Chicken Little, which skewed young, the gags and settings of Zootopia appear to be deliberately targeted at a broader, and more adult, audience.
    Link to article.. http://www.cartoonbrew.com/disney/pe...rn-128852.html
While the overall tone of the film remains family-friendly, there are plenty of elements in the early footage that are not strictly aimed at kids. The latest trailer, for example, includes not just a Godfather parody, but a scene in which Judy and Nick stumble upon an animal nudist resort. An earlier trailer took place entirely in the animals’ equivalent of the Department of Motor Vehicles. And much could be said of the film’s hyper-sexualized pop star Gazelle character. So, while Disney may not be actively encouraging an adult fandom surrounding Zootopia, it would appear that they are intentionally attempting to attract an older crowd with mature and titillating content.
Frankly, I cant see what their talking about?

I dont care either way.. I'm betting the movie will be lots of fun.. but the article is probably right about this being intentionally more adult than, say, "Over the Hedge" or Kung Fu Panda?

I havent seen the movie yet, but from all the trailers, clips, and poster art.. I'm getting the impression (right or wrong) that this is a Mammals only cartoon? Not like Kung Fu Panda, which includes birds & reptiles.. ITs either a furry universe where only mammals rose to sentient'ness ..or their saving the other critters for sequels?
I'll find out whats up in a day or two.

    Yes, mammals only.

Very good, smart and clever film. Only Wreck-It Ralph tops it for me for this new crop of Disney animated films. Plays like an antithesis to the awful (yet conceptually similar) Chicken Little.

It's quite possibly one of the darkest Disney animated films in a long time, and is quite mature to the way it approaches its timely and well-done racial allegory. Lots of clever pop culture references to everything from their own Frozen to Breaking Bad (!!!), and the entire metropolis world they create is vivid and beautiful. Characters are great, Bateman and Goodwin are absolute standouts.

    I can't recommend this movie enough. 5/5

I watched it last week and it was really good. Not as good as Inside Out but i say it was slightly better then Frozen. It was very fun and i throughly enjoyed it and the plot was also decent.

    breaking bad reference huh

this isn't something I'd rush out to see but I just read that this is, so far, the best reviewed movie of 2016. probably not going to see it till it's out on dvd, but I'm actually excited now.

I really would like to see that now! I wonder if it can live up to the masterpiece that was Big Hero 6, though they're produced by the same people.

I saw it Friday....and was bored to death.

I kept thinking to myself 1/2 way through the film, "WHEN will this be OVER?"

After the movie was over, something immediate came to my mind: Zootopia is the 1980's dramedy Moonlighting....Judy Hops is Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd's character) and Nick Wild is a direct rip-off of David Addison's wisenheimer devil-may-care attitude (Bruce Willis).

Another thing: put Judy in a red strapless dress with triangle edges and she's EXACTLY like Lisa Simpson: over enthusiatic about something (in her case being a cop) but at the end gets egg on her face and is easily disappointed by its outcome (how corrupt Zootopia's government is).

Zootopia makes Wreck-It-Ralph look like Snow White and the 7 Dwarves.
