    Most Overplayed Songs

I'm not talking about overplayed songs of today, but of all time. It can be old or current and it can be bad or good because lets face it, even some of the greatest songs of all time are overplayed.

Pretty much every Led Zeppelin song: Don't get me wrong. I love their music as much as the next guy, but you just cannot deny that their songs have been played on the radio countless times. I live in a small city with a classic rock radio station that has little variety and rarely dig deeper when it comes to obscure songs from the 60's-90's or even anything recent. It's just the same old classic hits and a few of them have been so overplayed that I just can't enjoy them anymore. That's not the case with Led Zeppelin though. They've played pretty much every one of their hit songs so many times, yet they still never get old.

Smells Like Teen Spirit: It's a great song, but I just can't help but think that they have so many songs that are better than this one. Yet this one seems to be played the most and the highest-regarded Nirvana song.

Eye of the Tiger: I used to really like this song, but now I think it's just generic 80's cheese. It's not a bad song, but there's nothing special about it either and it just doesn't motivate me in anyway.

I Feel Good: This song has been overplayed so damn much. It's been in so many movies and other forms of media that it's not even funny. It's still a good song, but James Brown has so many better songs than this.

Should I Stay or Should I Go: This is another song I used to like, but now it annoys the piss out of me. I like The Clash, but this song is just shit from the annoying guitar riff that rarely changes to the repetitive question that has a simple answer. This isn't fucking rocket science, you should just go!

Every goddamn song by Train: Words cannot express how much I hate this band. They are one of these bands that people love for reasons I don't even know. Drops of Jupiter is still being played on radio stations to this day and I don't even think I liked this song back then. Then there's the godawful Hey Soul Sister which I hated the first time I heard it and the radio and in 2010 everyone else couldn't get rid of their boner for this song. Then there's Drive-by which they still play on radio stations. I mean there is this one song they keep playing by this obscure Canadian band and as much as I can't stand that song, at least theres song reasoning behind it since radio stations here required to play Canadian music on a regular basis. With this song however I don't know why they keep playing it as Train is an American band. I hate their music so much as they're so incredibly contrived and Patrick Monahan has one of the most annoying voices in music history. Not to mention that he has a very punchable face. Whenever I see a picture of his face, he has this smug douchebag grin on his face that says "I'm better than all of you."

So, enough about Train. What songs do you think are very overplayed? Like I said it can be old or new.

Totally agree about Smells Like Teen Spirit. Good God what a RIDICULOUSLY overplayed song. There is MORE from Nirvana, you know!
Another one for me is I Am The Walrus. It's not the worst song ever, but it's pretty bad actually, so having to hear it over and over again is irritating.

Let's Get it On: The most overused love song of all time, with "Happy Together" as a close second.

Three Doors Down: Practically every one of their songs, especially "Loser", is overplayed. Ugh.

Doesn't Bohemian Rhapsody hold the record for radio play? I can go the rest of my life without hearing that song.

Agreed. My parents listen to oldies radio and "Don't Stop Believin'" plays at least once a day, according to them. So sick of that song. About the oldies radio, I'm inclined to quote Carl on this: "how about some new oldies, geniuses?!"

"Another One Bites the Dust" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" as well.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the only Nirvana song the alternative radio plays, so I understand people getting sick of it.

"Kids" is the only MGMT song the alternative radio around here ever plays.

"Come Together" by the Beatles. It's one of my least favorite popular Beatles songs. I'd much rather hear something else.

Since @BuyMyCereal is Canadian I'm sure he's had his fill of any April Wine song for about 5 lifetimes, I know I have.

Bohemian Rhapsody/We Are The Champions/We Will Rock You/Radio Gaga?Another One Bites The Dust: The first four songs on the list are definitely good songs, but they are extremely overrated and overplayed. Another one bites the dust honestly just bores me, and I cannot understand why it is so popular. It sucks that Queen's mediocre songs are the popular ones, while so many of their best songs are forgotten
Stairway to Heaven: I do love Led Zeppelin and the song, but it's very overrated. And Frank Zappa's cover beats the original by miles
Uptown Funk: Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the song, but, goddamnit, the radio played the shit out of it.

Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) - I actually agree that, even though it is an amazing classic rock song, and yes, Queen is just amazing, many of their songs, especially this one, have been overplayed so much! I was gonna put Another One Bites the Dust on there since it is a pretty cheesy song from them, but eh, I don't think it's as overplayed.
Shake it Off (Taylor Swift) - I am not into Taylor Swift's music, or mostly any pop music from the '90s through today, and I can even tell you that she should go back to doing country, because she is at least decent at that, and not making ridiculous generic pop music. Yes, this is overplayed in many radio stations, and god knows why people love it so much.
Bodies (Drowning Pool) - Need I say more! Granted, the song is not as overused as it was in 2007-13 on YouTube, Dailymotion, Zippcast, etc., but it's just overplayed just for people to be cool and edgy! "so guyz, i maid diz call ov duty vid wit bodies. ZOMG IM A GENIUS XD!" And mind you, I thought the song is pretty decent, maybe close to being pretty good, in fact, it is better than anything from Linkin Park, or god forbid, Limp Bizkit, but still!

    I might post more later.

have the radio going nonstop at work and I'm sick of these ones

anyhing by ac/dc cept highway to hell
    free falling - tom petty
as a huge beatles fan it pains me to say that the variety of songs by them played on the radio is abysmal

also canadian radio listeners are probably aware of these 2
this beat goes on/switching to glide - the kings
    mama let him play -doucette

there are others but i'm blocking them from my mind at the moment

SiriusXM's Classic Rewind might as well be the Tom Petty/Rolling Stones channel, two more huge culprits. They must play at least 2 songs an hour by each.

Nice call on Mama Let Him Play.

I just thought of another song.

In Da Club: I hate this song so much. I remember back in the 2000's when people were quoting this song constantly. It took YEARS for people to finally shut the fuck up with that "Go shawty, it's your birthday." bullshit. This song is the epitome of soulless, awful club music and it's one of the first songs that come to mind when I think of terrible party songs.

they still play that? haven't heard it in years.

Highly agree on Queen's biggest hits such as Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions. I turn on the radio and I don't think I ever hear their other great songs like Innuendo, Hammer to Fall, or even Don't Stop Me Now. Don't get me wrong, I think their overplayed hits are good songs, but they're not Queen's best.

You're BoJack Horseman, no cure for that.

"Smooth" by Santana. After that one summer, I never want to hear it again.

It's not even that good of a song.

I hate "Blurred Lines". It's overplayed everywhere, and seems to be a song the NBA 2K series now can't go one year without having on the soundtrack. Ugh.

Also, Hotel California, the song is good at best, and I have no idea why it is so popular. I wish all the love for Hotel California went to New Kid in Town, which is by far the best Eagles song.

You'd always get the same songs played again and again at school discos. Two of the main culprits were Hey Baby by DJ Otzi and Reach by S Club 7.

One song I'm surprised that no one mentioned yet is Come On Eileen. One of my most hated songs. And it really sucks, because Dexy's Midnight Runners were a genuinely good band who made some great music.
