Weezer's new album is their best album

That literally is the worst opinion to hold. I'd like to see that defense.

Weezer is a band I have to completely switch my brain off to listen and enjoy. That pretty much makes me focus entirely on how it sounds and ignore the lyrics entirely (which a few people say Pinkerton does well but I dunno, I'm just not really interested in lyrics when I listen to Weezer).
new album has the cleanest hooks, the most consistent run of songs and a very guilty, but enjoyable sound.
Pinkerton is incredibly over-rated and has a few good tracks but... there's just nothing great about it, I don't think it's smart or deep like some people say. it's just too cheesy yet serious at the same time, it's just weird.
I like the blue album and that was my favourite, green is alright too, and the rest I don't have to explain why they're worse.
new one is just fun, even if it came about from them probably trying too hard.

I don't really like Weezer to be honest, and I find their music to be very simple and cheesy (yes even the old albums), but the new album does simple cheesy music the best and I really like it for that

    gonna put it on now!

also what's wrong with simple or cheesy music? most of the best music is a little cheesy, i'd rather bands have fun than be way too serious.

Agreed, you need a healthy balance to get the best out of what music has to offer. Some artists do this by themselves rather well, Eminem being a prime example. Others are great but perhaps too serious for a marathon (Muse) and may be far too silly to listen to without having a grin on your face. But a healthy balance of both, you have, in my view, a perfect playlist.

Oh, and this is one of the finest silly tunes ever produced.Simple, yes but just so catchy. Extravagant production of music is like that of film, style over substance.

I'm agreeing with you. the whole reason I prefer EWBAITE is because i think it does their simple cheesy music the best.

also TO BE HONEST I haven't listened to early 2000-weezer in basically forever but i guess it's because I felt no reason too, and green is the one that mostly stood out to me from that era. i've listened to blue and pinkerton recently because I know they are most people's favourites but I just don't really see it and what I was mostly arguing against.

I think Green Day's best albums are Dookie and American Idiot.

Don't hate American Idiot, but it's definitely near the bottom of the list of GD records.

sure, there's been some backlash against it, but it's still really popular and it even somehow finished #13 on our top 100 albums list.

shocking. out of all the beatles and radiohead and oasis records you could've had in the top 20, american idiot makes it in.

I usually can't stand Green Day, like Basket Case? one of the worst, the most overplayed songs of all time, but 'American Idiot' is a great album.

for the record, i don't think american idiot is a very good album, but it was my favorite album of all time for several years and i still love it dearly.

  22. #201

It's just a boring rock record. Literally nothing special about it. I think it has a couple okay tracks. I can't think of a reason why people hold it in such regard here. The only place I've heard positives is here.

because american idiot took green day from being a snotty punk(ish) band singing songs full of raw energy and started the transition of them being an overproduced act trying to emulate the stadium rock sounds of u2 or springsteen. american idiot is still alright, though i vastly prefer the latter part of the record(she's a rebel on), and i still stuck with the band for a few years, but then they reaffirmed their stance with the turd 21st century breakdown and i turned away. their last trilogy of records had maybe one records' worth of good songs and two records' worth of filler/crap.

anyway nimrod's always been my favorite gd record, with kerplunk! in second. 39/smooth, dookie, insomniac, and warning, despite being rather solid records, are kind of interchangeable to me; i could rank them anywhere as long as they rank higher than american idiot or anything after.

  27. #206

Insomniac is easily my fav. Dookie's a fun record to turn on in the car with friends who know all the words.

Speaking of unpopular opinions, I strongly dislike Justin Timberlake.

One of the best pop artists around and FutureSex/LoveSounds is a marvel of modern pop music.

All the Beatles records were in the top 20 pretty much.
