"Viva La Vida" is a good song, even if the radio played the hell out of it.

"Clocks," however, is annoying and awful. YES, WE GET IT, YOU WROTE A SONG WITH AN 8/8 TIME SIGNATURE. THAT IS NOT A HOOK.

Ghost Stories was my least favorite album from Coldplay, though considering Chris Martin had his breakup with Gwyneth Paltrow some time before the album's release, I wouldn't be too surprised if the development of the album was somewhat affected by what Chris was going through. That or they were trying something more experimental like in their X&Y album.

I thought Mylo Xyloto was actually pretty great, and "Paradise" was my favorite song in the album.

Hotel California and the Eagles in general are utter horseshit. Let it die with your dads, fellas.

I like Paul McCartney's collabs with Michael Jackson.

I think St. Anger is a good Metallica album. It's not one of their best, but I think Load and Reload are easily worse. I like how raw and stripped-down the sound is, and how brutal and unrelenting the songs are. It had no ballads, no radio-friendly songs whatsoever, and if it had been released by any other band, nobody in the world would have ever heard it. So in a way, it brought to my attention a new aesthetic of heavy metal that I probably never would have discovered.

I don't know how the reception for the band is in the rest of the world though.
I like them too, and I actually like most of their recent albums (with the exception of Living Things from 2012... such a bland, forgettable album). I've liked them since the early 2000s and have always checked it out whenever they put out a new album. I think A Thousand Suns is their best work, and it was actually their lowest-selling I believe. It had some great progressive-rock elements.

I also believe that if you remove Fred Durst and his lyrics, Limp Bizkit's music can actually be pretty decent. Wes Borland is a great guitarist and he's done some really good side-projects.

David Bowie's first two albums are very dated, and they are an acquired taste, but they are great. Not up to the same standard as his '70s stuff, but still really good.

''Wild World'' by Cat Stevens is piss. Basically, Cat is saying ''I'm too cool to get upset about my breakup, so I'm going to talk down to my ex like she was some sort of 6 year old monkey''

Totally agreed. Queen is my favorite band, while Beatles are 4th. Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin are between.
You're a dolt with the IQ of a peabrain that probably loves lowbrow sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, Frasier and Seinfeld to not grasp the biting satire and wit of the classic 65 (Rugrats).

Ew! You like the Monkees? You know they don't write their own songs. They don't even play their own instruments. That's not even Michael Nesmith's real hat.
Rest assured that I was on the Internet within minutes, registering my disgust throughout the world.

Back to Coldplay, the song Fix You is pretty good, even though it is one of their more generic songs.

what even happened to this thread

    anyway:

    - metallica is the worst metal band. like, by miles. the only competition is
    - nazis, no music a nazi touched has any value. it should be deleted from history.
    - besides a couple songs off of the queen is dead, the smiths/moriessy solo never made anything good

    - brickwalling can be amazing if the music is designed for it
    - same with low bitrate audio

    - treble > bass
there really was one way to be and this is not it, we think

Wonderwall is the worst song ever.

Smells Like Teen Spirit is probably the third or fourth worst song ever. At the very least it's in the top 5.

The only thing I can think of that comes to mind immediately is that American Idiot is Green Day's best album.

Smells like Teen Spirit is a hugely overrated and terrible song!

I used to hate on rap and say shit like this when I was 11/12 because I that I looked really cool and smart, but I just looked like an idiot. At the time, I don't think that I had really heard more than about 5 rap songs. I'm sorry if I'm jumping to conclusions, but am I right to guess that you guys have heard very little rap?

He listens to the Eagles and calls rap unimaginative. Pretty easy to piece it together

Oh boy! Do I got a lot to say and FYI some of these might be parroted from other posts.

    - I used to like You Spin Me Right Round until I accidentally went on meatspin which traumatized me at the time and couldn't listen to it the same way again. Despite that though it is just a terrible song with no substance whatsoever.
    - I fucking hate Wonderwall with a passion and whenever I hear this song it reminds me of Simple Plan. That's how annoying that guy's voice is to me.
    - The Final Countdown is a terrible cheesefest with generic 80's synthesizer bullshit.
    - Lorde is actually a talented musician if you can get past her awful song called Royals which is a song where I hate it for because of how it's sung more than it is the actual lyrics.
    - Meghan Trainor is OK.
    - Hustlin' by Rick Ross is one of the most hilariously bad rap songs ever.
    - R. Kelly is a very talented musician. Yes, he pissed on an underage girl, but despite that I still love his music.
    - Poison isn't that bad of a rock band.
    - ABBA is incredibly overrated and overglorified.
    - St. Anger is not the awful album everyone makes it out to be. It's just mediocre.
    - I fucking hate The Smiths and Hall and Oates.

I still like dubstep. I understand the hate for it, but I just find it damn catchy.

I am also a fan of both the white rap and the black rap.

What? Do you like the song or something or is it the whole meatspin thing? Because if it is then there is a bit of a backstory to it. I was 13 at the time and there was this forum I used to visit from time to time until it got hacked by a 13 year old boy who had too much time on his hands. The site said it was hacked by him and then the unexpected happened by the hacked site redirecting me to meatspin. I was so grossed out by it and I immediately pressed the reset button just because I assumed something else would happen if I tried to close it like those old Rick Rolling sites. Still I do not hate the song because of the site. I hate it because it's a blandly generic and uninspired song with awful lyrics and the Flo Rida version of the song isn't any better. Even a classic music buff like me can admit that the 70's and 80's did have some shitty songs.

I was tricked into meatspin as a young lad too. It's probably the least shocking shock site ever.

As far as the song goes, I like it, but opinions are opinions for a reason.

I adore Courtney Love, she's so talented and amazing.

"Elvis or Beatles?" is one of the most boring, overdone questions ever. Besides: Roy Orbison.

The voice is an instrument. "Simple" and even "childish" lyrics usually serve this purpose more than in-depth lyrics and I can't stand to see people tear down a song because it doesn't contain a vocal narrative.

Does anyone ask Elvis or the Beatles? I thought it was usually beeeatles vs stones
