I don't even have to prove my point though, the music does that well enough by itself.

All the rock music from the 80's is different though, compared to the rap music from that era

This isn't even a genre fight, I love a lot of classic rock, but when it's bad it is SO bad.

Guess this thread is chatty now, but I'll answer the OP:

A lot of 80s music sucks. It all sounds the same--uses that same 4/4 electronic drum-beat and brass synthesizer. "Born in the U.S.A." by Bruce Springsteen is one of the worst songs of all time. I don't like Phil Collins either.

I agree with you about Nicki Minaj.

    Dubstep is still cool.

think this might have been top of the pops' slogan for a bit in the 70s.

I'll elaborate on it in a bit, but I've got a few more to post for now:
-I don't mean to offend anyone, but fuck The Rolling Stones. The fact that they are considered to be one of the best bands of the '60s, and some far better '60s bands such as The Kinks, The Monkees and The Hollies are forgotten (in comparison) just makes me angry. Their music isn't ''bad'' as such, but they don't deserve the praise that they get.
    -Black Sabbath>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Led Zeppelin
-One Direction get far too much hate. Their music is fun and catchy, and a lot better than some shit that is in the charts now, such as Lorde.
-Bohemian Rhapsody and I'm a Believer were both OK songs, but Queen and The Monkees have both done so many far better songs that no one remembers.
-Back in the '50s, when they both did their best works, Bill Haley was far better than Elvis Presley.
-I don't love Linkin Park like Snowpit does, but I'm a big Hybrid Theory fan, and they have done some good stuff after it too, even if they do take themselves so seriously that it's funny.
-Dubstep isn't as bad as people make it out to be, I will happily listen to some stuff by Skrillex. It's not very good, but it's listenable.
-Ringo Starr is so much better than Paul McCartney.
    -Nothing wrong with Nicki Minaj
-Witchfinder General were one of the best NWOBHM bands. Far better than Venom and Saxon.
-I like Yoko Ono. True, she has done some terrible shite (like that awful cover of Katy Perry's ''Firework''), but most of the stuff from the Plastic Ono Band is really good.
-Double Fantasy is really nothing special. It is probably Lennon's worst album.
-Nothing wrong with Ice Ice Baby, or Vanilla Ice in general.

    -nineties > sixties
-george harrison was the best beatle, then john lennon
    -i like 2000s/10s 'pop'

also with all artists that i like, i can end up being fond of their least good albums after a couple of listens. i need two or three listens to digest most albums anyway.

I wouldn't call this an unpopular opinion, but anyone who believes otherwise is a shithead

Well, it seems sort of unpopular to me to suggest that modern music is "still good". The idea that modern music is anything other than a huge pile of suckage is sometimes an unpopular opinion. Or at least, the inverse is a very popular opinion.

-Macklemore is a legitimately good rapper who writes songs about subjects that never get covered in most pop music.
-Coldplay is not a rip-off of Oasis. And Oasis still has some great music despite the band members being jerkass fucks.
-The Guns and Roses version of "Knocking on Heaven's Door" beats the original by miles.
-I kind of like Evanescence's "Bring Me to Life" in a non-ironic way. It doesn't make the memes associated with it any less hilarious.

"Hotel California" is one of the most overrated songs of all time, which I suspect is just because people like the outro guitar portion (which I admit is pretty good). Everything else about the song is boring.

OK, I have time, so I might as well:
First of all, I don't like Queen for their wimpy, boring, generic pop rock hits like Bohemian Rhapsody and Radio Gaga. I'm not mad, The Beatles are far better than those songs. They are OK enough songs, but they are not what makes Queen great. What makes Queen great is their earlier works from their first few albums, such as Ogre Battle, March of The Black Queen, Great King Rat, Jesus, Liar, Doing All Right and so on. I also love the better stuff from their later albums such as The Prophet's Song and The Show Must Go On. These songs are so much better and show the band putting their talent to its full use. And don't get me wrong, I love The Beatles, they are one of my favourite bands, but when Queen were at their best, they were better than The Beatles.

Hotel California isn't as great as some other Eagles songs such as Life In The Fast Lane and I'm Already Gone, but it is quite enjoyable and fun. It's not a ''classic'' or anything, but it is quite a good song.

    - Popular music hasn't changed for the worse. Not sure if for the better either, but a generic song from the 80s is just as generic as a generic song in 2015 (and this probably isn't unpopular but it sure feels like).
    - Electronic music is good and Tiėsto hasn't turned into shit.
    - Coldplay is good.
    - Chet Faker needs to shave, his beard isn't cool.

I didn't realise that liking Coldplay is an unpopular opinion. I love Coldplay.

I love Coldplay, but their new album was no good to me. Too much electronica-influence (and I love electronica, but I don't really want it from Coldplay).
