Thread: Post unpopular music opinions that you hold

How is this an underground consensus? It's just a bunch of dudes on a Wu Tang clan forum. But at least you know they're the real hip hop heads. Every forum has their biases especially if they centred around a certain topic. I imagine a wutang clan forum would have a stronger bias to classic hop hop.

I'm not saying I know if it's hated by "the underground" or not either

I don't want to make this into a fight but I felt like it was the perfect place to guide people to. I just know there is Urban Underground in LA and tons of mixtapes have that underground feel.

I also know I like Kendrick Lamar and Q-Tip's The Renissance is the best album in 2008 so I don't exactly have a bias. I'm just stating I like Lloyd Banks and Young Buck; G-Unit's T.O.S. I also like because it's hard hitting and gritty.

I'm not exactly sure what that has to do with what I said. I never said you had a bias. I said don't take a forum centred around a classic hip hop group as the consensus for modern underground hip hop cause they might have a bias. Of course there is underground urban hip hop in LA. Wasn't arguing against that. Some of my favourite releases from 2015 have been by "underground" artists.

I was never discussing Banks or Buck really either, but yeah I like Young Buck kind of, although his newest one from this year was bad.

Who knows how unpopular this actually is, but Iggy Azalea cannot sing, like at all. One of her songs just played on the radio, and I can't tell if it's on purpose or not, but there's so little effort on her part of the song it's frightening. The featured singer that was doing the chorus was pretty good, but Iggy's parts were downright awful, I don't see how she managed to catch on like she has.

The main thing that bothers me about Iggy Azalea is her fake "black woman" accent. It sounds ridiculous. The way she sounds in interviews is a complete 180 from her "rapping" voice.

I don't ''love'' Oasis, but I have no problem with them and will gladly listen to them

Hey, Flibble, what did you think of Oasis's cover of ''Cum on Feel the Noize''. Do you agree that they fucked up the ''baby baby baby''?

I really like it. Not sure whether I prefer it to the original or not though. Also yeah, I guess Slade did do the "baby baby baby" part better.

EDIT: Also Parklife > (What's the Story) Morning Glory

On that subject: Slade's original version of ''Cum On Feel he Noize>Quiet Riot's cover.I think that that's an unpopular opinion

No way man, Slade's version is untouchable. As are the band themselves.

    Anyway, in my opinion:

-Nirvana and Green Day only have 13 good songs to their names, not including the abysmal singles "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "American Idiot" respectively.

-Despite The Smiths being a good band musically, Morrisey's awful wailing and pretentiously preachy and precocious lyrics dampen their squib.

The Idle Race need more respect and recognition. Not only as a Birmingham based band or a Jeff Lyne/Roy Wood vehicle but because their 2 albums were fucking great stuff and still stand today.

    - A majority of Queen's best material is in the album tracks and B-sides, the singles (bar a merry few) are vastly inferior.

-Blur's best work is the Life trilogy (Modern Life, Parklife and The Great Escape) including B-sides.Their versatility in that era is something that is sadly overlooked by poor later singles like "Song 2", "Tender" and "Crazy Beat"

Despite pioneering a genre that doesn't hold up for the most part, the work of N.W.A and associated acts is still relevant and very listenable today.

The Doors' albums "Other Voices" and "Full Circle" are just as good as the Morrison-era ones.

I wouldn't like The Smiths if it wasn't for his "awful wailing". but pretty much all of my favourite bands have weird and distinct vocals. I do agree their lyrics are really awkward tho.

    Lithium

What about GD? Personally if I had to pick 13 and 13 only, I'd go with:

    Worry Rock
    Christie Road
    Burnout
    86
    Favorite Son
    Church on Sunday
    Letterbomb
    She
    Having a Blast
    The Judge's Daughter
    J.A.R. (Jason Andrew Relva)
    Jackass
    Hitchin' A Ride

There's more that I like, but that's 13 really good songs.

I'll list those later. Interestingly, only 3 songs from your list are in mine. Talk about difference in opinion,eh?

I agree. I think Think Tank would have been better if Graham Coxon was on it though.

I honestly don't even care that you don't care much for either Nirvana or Green Day, it's just that usually people that don't either say that their whole discography is trash, or that they have a handful of decent/good songs. It struck me as odd that you narrowed it down to exactly 13 songs that were worth while for the two bands.

Song2 is like probably one of the most overrated songs ever.

Anyway, I can't at people calling Hip-Hop a genre that "doesn't hold up". Whatever that means...

All right here's an opinion that I'll throw out but I don't know that it is necessarily unpopular.

Janet Jackson isn't really all that great after Control and Rhythm Nation 1814 (and certainly not beforehand). There's maybe two songs on janet that I like and after that the only song of hers that resonated with me was Runaway. All her other songs really bore me, or irritate me. Sometimes I don't even like to listen to Nasty because it just bugs me and I don't really know what it is.

What? No, not hip-hop but generic Gangsta rap.

Should have pointed that out. Or better yet, should have just kept quiet.
