Post unpopular music opinions that you hold

Not the most original idea, but it went well on another board i'm on so fuck it lets give this a go. Post some opinions that you know will get people raging:

Nicki Minaj is ridiculously overhated. She's talented and fun and damn does she know how to craft catchy pop.

Most 70's/80's classic/hard rock is boring wank and I hate the nostalgia trip everyone has for it.

    Bloody wanker.

The rest of family hates it, but I don't think Linkin Park is that bad. They don't produce the best songs ever, but they are still good enough to listen to. It's really irritating how they have to make fun of me every time I happen to say I like a song from them.
I don't know how the reception for the band is in the rest of the world though.

I think St. Anger is a good Metallica album. It's not one of their best, but I think Load and Reload are easily worse. I like how raw and stripped-down the sound is, and how brutal and unrelenting the songs are. It had no ballads, no radio-friendly songs whatsoever, and if it had been released by any other band, nobody in the world would have ever heard it. So in a way, it brought to my attention a new aesthetic of heavy metal that I probably never would have discovered.

I like them too, and I actually like most of their recent albums (with the exception of Living Things from 2012... such a bland, forgettable album). I've liked them since the early 2000s and have always checked it out whenever they put out a new album. I think A Thousand Suns is their best work, and it was actually their lowest-selling I believe. It had some great progressive-rock elements.

I also believe that if you remove Fred Durst and his lyrics, Limp Bizkit's music can actually be pretty decent. Wes Borland is a great guitarist and he's done some really good side-projects.

    • ice ice baby made under pressure not completely shit.
    • technicality isn't a very important element of good music. optional and handy in certain cases but hardly crucial at all.
    • musically speaking, maladroit is weezer's best record.
    • wild honey pie is a top 20 beatles song.
    • the king of limbs is a top 5 radiohead record and thom yorke's latest solo record was fuckin' stunning.

will post more as i think of 'em.

This is a great opinion, I don't give a fuck how many wanky solos you can do if it adds nothing to the rest of the song.

Finally found another Weezer fan! Maladroit and Pinkerton are tied for me. Saw them last year and it was awesome

reflektor would've made a fine album half it's size.

oh is it controversial to say the suburbs was better than funeral? because it was.

    oh right yes this opinion.

run the jewels 2 was the most overrated record of 2014. didn't dislike it or anything (first four songs are killer in fact) but it's just nothing exceptional really at all in terms of production or themes or anything. their flow is impeccable and their lyricism solid but it just doesn't really stick out to me? there are a few outright misses too like "all my life" which has like, no energy or atmosphere or anything and just makes me tired. definition of a skip track. it just seems generally uninspired and without much to actually say? i would love a r.a.p. music 2 far more than a run the jewels 3 at this point.

run the jewels 1 still rules tho. jam after jam after jam.

You're a dolt with the IQ of a peabrain that probably loves lowbrow sitcoms like The Big Bang Theory, Frasier and Seinfeld to not grasp the biting satire and wit of the classic 65 (Rugrats).

Maybe most was an exaggeration but there's a lot of dull dull dull 'classic' rock.

don't stop me now will always be a blast and i'm fond of the occasional killer queen/stone cold crazy. that's really about it, i've listen to alot of their stuff and an astounding amount of it completely squanders their strongest attributes, being mercury's vocal ability and their general grandiose theatrical style. so many weirdly bland mid-tempo butt rocker tunes packed into each queen record.

Been re-reading the thread and just wanted to say I agree completely add this opinion because i've been listening to them quite a bit recently - Sparks are the band Queen should've tried being.

Simple Plan and Of Mice & Men are good. Plus I can stand all modern screamo, which I've been told is worse than rap.

Also, I've grown out of my 10 year old "dubstep is cool bruh" phase and now it's just a bunch of noise

    Unpopular opinions? Here we go.
A Momentary Lapse Of Reason is good.
    Hotel California is nothing special.
Modern music is just as good as old music.
Nickelback is bad, but there are far worse acts out there.
All rap music, with a few exceptions, sucks.
Axl Rose is a bad vocalist, as is Bon Scott.
Many dubstep songs would be pretty good if not for the drops.
    Brain Damage and Eclipse suck.
    And finally...
All Together Now is an awful song.
    And probably others.

gonna ignore the rap opinion because fuckin' whatever man miss out, and say yeah fuck axl rose and fuck not just bon scott but ac/dc as a whole, especially that loogie-hockin' fuck brian johnson.

i had to listen to back in black alot cuz my dad loves it. i'm kinda bitter about it. it's maybe the worst album ever put on such a high pedestal?
