I liked it. Melissa McCarthy was great in that one, which made Hollywood make her play the same types of roles over and over again. Kristen was solid there as well.

oh they're popular for sure (why else is he being allowed to do this?) but I don't think they're that great

bridesmaids is very overrated and ironically I thought mccarthy was one of the very few good things about it. but then all of his other films have her ramping up her shtick to the extreme. (and making her the main character)

yeah, but (as the article amanda hugandkiss posted touched on) ghostbusters 2 already did all of those things. they made some ridiculous excuse to make it so the ghostbusters were separated and had to re-form, peter and dana were separated and had to re-connect, dana is coincidentally again right at the heart of the antagonists plot, they even altered the logo (within the movie) to incorporate a 2, slimer is there for no reason, the ending involved a giant entity walking down the streets of new york, etc etc etc. like, seriously how can people be mad at this when anything that might be "ruined" was already done so 30 fucking years ago

i know you've already stated that you don't like part 2, but with that in mind who really cares about this one? there's an off chance it will be good, and if it's not so what

i can at least guarantee that this will be better than whatever that nutjob dan akyroyd had in mind

do people forget that that dude completely lost his shit at some point in the mid 90s? go watch blues brothers 2000 and tell me a third ghostbusters would have been good

well I never said this was going to "ruin" the first film.

I just don't think it's going to be good

but yes I agree at the very least this will be boring, lengthy and full of never-ending, unfunny "improv" scenes (which I'm expecting) and not another batshit crazy dan akyroyd inane vanity project

which ghostbusters 2 kind of was, IIRC? (at least he was the one pushing for it alongside sony the hardest) man, the idea that people thought the ghosts in the first film were fake is the laziest thing I've ever seen a sequel do

i realize i quoted you, but my posts are not entirely directed at you. i'm mainly just making points against all of the ridiculous overblown criticism i've seen using your post as a jumping off point

I don't get what everyone is complaining about, I think Mccarthey would make a great Stay Puft Marshmellow Man.

    It's funny because she's overweight.

I don't remember anyone complaining about Dan Aykroyd being a tub of lard. Oh right, it's ok for men...

Nah, people complained Harold Ramis would be too fat to reprise the role of Egon when Ghostbusters 3 was still on the table

Lol at no point did I complain she was fat. It's fine for anyone to be heavy I just made a lame joke about it. I also find it weird that people get offended when someone makes a fat joke at a comic who's whole shtick is "lol I'm fat". Ps I don't give a shit about this movie, I like ghostbusters but enough to think a lame reboot will "ruin my childhood".

I don't recall Aykroyd being overweight in the movies.

Eh, I wouldn't call that a tub of lard. Although I agree that McCarthy's weight shouldn't matter, it also means Aykroyd's shouldn't either.

Seemed sort of catty (I think calling him a "fat tub of lard" is a bit extreme), but I could be taking it the wrong way. Sorry about that!

I'm just being facetious. "Overweight" wouldn't have had the same punch.

I wasn't that big a fan of the original movie anyways, so I'm not bothered.

was the first ghostbusters even that good? i mean, i like it and stuff but i have no nostalgia for it and i could probably name 20 comedies from the same time that make me laugh more. with that said, i'm kind of looking forward to seeing how this turns out. i think the cast is really good (although i've never seen jones in anything before) and bridesmaids was funny, so i guess i can be cautiously optimistic.
