I think XVI is really underrated. The first two segments are solid and the third one, while not as good, is still pretty funny.
I think XVII is underrated too, but the second segment is a bit weak.

The second segment is the best one in that episode. The third one is a snoozefest.

When I watched that episode as little, I always thought it was a little creepy when Homer just suddenly tried to eat Bart when in the kitchen.

XVI is way better, one of the best THOH's from the Jean era. All the segments are relatively solid. You Gotta Know When to Golem is actually my favourite segment from XVII. Married to the Blob has that awful appearance by Dr. Phil and is otherwise not very interesting. The Day the Earth Looked Stupid has incredibly contrived and unsubtle "satire" on the Iraq War.

    Bump.

Hmm, I forgot to vote in this latest one. Bartificial Intelligence and I've Grown a Costume on Your Face from XVI are pretty mediocre, but I really like Survival of the Fattest. XVII is a bottom 5 THOH; not a single segment I like.

Match 129: Steal This Episode vs. The War of Art

(The match numbers were messed up because Simpsons_Sweden didn't number his.)

Both are generally well-received season 25 episodes from Matt Selman. Steal This Episode has some of the strongest satire in the HD era, while The War of Art has some great underlying morals and solid characterizations. I'll hand it to The War of Art, although I might have voted differently on another day.

    Steal This Episode: 2
    The War of Art: 2

I really quite enjoyed "Steal This Episode". It showed that the Simpsons can still be current and topical in an intelligent manner when it tries hard enough. And I chuckled at the part about the Star Wars clone prequels never having happened due to 'a rift in the space-time continuum'.

"The War of Art" on the other hand I remember very little about. Perhaps I should re-watch it.

I've seen both episodes only once, but they're pretty good for the HD era. I think I enjoyed Steal This Episode more, it had a really good plot with a lot of jokes. Brick Like Me is the best of their season though.

I need to re-watch The War of Art. I didn't like it when I first watched it, but I've second-guessed that since then because it seems like whatever criticisms I had against it weren't as bad as big a deal as I was making them out to be, or something. I did like Steal This Episode, almost certainly more than I would like The War of Art if I rewatched it.

Steal this Episode had some glaring logical flaws that came with it, War of Art is funny and strong morals which hold up well.

Match 130: Lisa the Simpson vs. HOMR

Two episodes that try to explain the characteristics of a Simpson. Neither the Simpson gene nor the crayon bother me that much, to be honest, but while I like the message in Lisa the Simpson, the Homer/Lisa story in HOMR is better.

HOMR is overrated. Even though the Simpsons gene stuff is stupid, Lisa's descent into mediocrity is great. The crayon bothers me about as much as the Simpson gene anyway, if not more, because it arguably plays a bigger role in the plot (while belief in the Simpsons gene fuels Lisa's descent, it isn't confirmed to exist until the end).

Definitely prefer Lisa the Simpson over HOMR. More interesting plot, funnier jokes, and a great subplot. Admittedly I like the "crayon" explanation better for Homer's stupidity, but Lisa the simpson wins on all other accounts.

Not much of a fan of the ending in MoET, and Grift is overall just better in terms of humor. Even Gary Colemans appearance didn't felt that pointless.

Grift of the Magi is awful. The plot doesn't make any sense; toys basically come to life and then Lisa decides they need to break into everyone's houses and steal their Christmas presents. What the hell does anyone see in it? Miracle on Evergreen Terrace is a good episode from what I remember, and I like how cynical it is.
