    R&R - Family Guy - "Chap Stewie"

Original Air Date: May 18th, 2014

When Peter and Chris interrupt Stewie’s TV time, the angry baby goes back in time to break up Peter and Lois so he’s never conceived, but is shocked when he is reborn into a “Downton Abbey”-esque British household.
I know it's a little early to be making the thread for this (Though the "Bob's Burgers" one has already been made too) but due to what happened last week with the Family Guy R&R I figured it would be better to get it made before anything similar happens again.

Rate and review as per the usual!

...Jesus Christ, did nobody else watch this one? Seriously, due to the time zone differences coupled with having to wait for the episodes to show up online I'm never among the first to post in these R&R threads following an episode airing. Oh well, best to get on with what I thought of the season finale.

It wasn't quite as strong as the preview clips had built it up to be, but it was by no means a bad episode. It was peppered with a few unpleasant gags as just about every Family Guy episode is these days but I still very much enjoyed it. Also, just a little side note, Stewie's new time machine is just a real slick treat to look at as well as see in action. 3.5/5, rounded off to a 4 for the poll.

Good episode. Really thankful they didn't go for a bunch of easy British jokes when Stewie was reborn into his family. Laughed at the Downtown Abbey jokes in the beginning, the guy thinking shaved Peter was the monster from Goonies, and the Rupert jokes. There were a few bad jokes, but it was mostly enjoyable, and it kept focused on the plot, so overall, a good outing for Season 12 and such.

Overall: a 4/5 for the poll.

This thread's looking a wee bit empty, strange. It wasn't too bad gag-wise, a few chuckles here and there but the plot was a little boring. 3/5

just an okay episode like everyone is saying. the british family was not only terribly boring but the writers seemed terrified to go too long without seeing any other griffins (notice how the peter "duck duck goose" cutaway was positioned exactly in the middle of this tidy five-min portion of the ep)... it also made really no sense. stewie isn't smart enough to make a wisecrack despite the fact that:

    a) we had an entire plot earlier this season where stewie is trapped in chris' backpack solely to feed him smartass wisecracks that were a lot better than "you're a poopyhead"
    b) he's still smart enough to rebuild an effin time machine only a couple minutes later

the "tough love" angle isn't bad, but it was sorely missing a realization of brian's disappearance, once again unforgiving of viewers who aren't dumb enough to totally forget that three episode arc earlier in the season where brian dies and stewie is the only one to miss him. basically: this episode made no goddamn sense. but hey I chuckled at a few cutaways and lines here and there so we can just forgive that and the three "meg sucks/is gross" jokes. 3/5

Well, at least Stewie has a new time machine now... Very dull episode otherwise, and I'm sad to say this was the worst Family Guy season so far, and for me the main reason is probably all those lousy recycled jokes which they crammed in so many of the episodes (especially the episodes in the 2nd half of the season).

While this episode was interesting plot-wise, I didn't laugh once. As a result, I give it 2/5.

Other complaints I had were the rip-off of the Simpsons duck joke with Ralph, the British jokes which were more or less repeats of the ones from a previous episode: silly sports names and terms and the bad teeth as well as the awfully unfunny tea joke, and the fact that certain plot devices were left unfulfilled such as Stewie's two new older brothers - I would've liked to see more of them.

Also, this was yet ANOTHER time travel episode. How many can they do?!

Well, it definitely was better than I expected.
I mean, it made sense to me that Stewie would get tired of his family, it's just that him falling into the world of "Downtown Abbey" sounded like a pretty terrible idea.
Still, it was nice to have a Stewie-focused episode and while the British family indeed was very boring, many of the jokes in this episode hit. Chris getting overexcited of a box of porn was fucking gold. SERIOUSLY. FUCKING. GOLD.
So while it didn't look like it would be that good, they made a great job on the execution. 8/10

Watched it and it is what it is, undeveloped but good for the odd funny cutaway or random moment. Probably missed the Stewie-Brian dynamic but by Season 12's standards, this is a classic.

    3/5, 6/10 C+

Better than last week's episode. While it is not without it's flaws, it is still a very funny episode and it was interesting to see Stewie in a different family. It was also nice to see Brian act like himself instead of his douchey season 12 character he usually is. I really enjoyed this episode and while it's not great, it's a better season finale than the underwhelming No Country Club for Old Men. 8/10

The bit where Stewie headbutted Meg made it onto Peter's Instagram page. Gotta love that comment section.

God, I hated that moment. What did they have to remind me of that for?

I thought it was funny, you could just see it coming that Stewie would hurt Meg in that moment and it happened haha. And lol @ that instagram.
