Oh shit. Old news but I didn't see a thread, and this is a horrible idea.

They would probably draw in more audiences if they called it Charlie Brown. I know that the franchise is called Peanuts, but most people have only seen the specials.

While they're at it, they should just replace snoopy with poochy.

Actually, Snoopy brings in the biggest crowds. More than any other Peanuts character. That's why there were those long filler scenes in the Great Pumpkin featuring him.

It's more famous as Peanuts though. It ran for fifty years in first run syndication in most papers under that name, and still runs to this day in reruns under the name in many papers. Yeah, the specials are Charlie Brown-centric(like A Charlie Brown Christmas, It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown), but quite a few people do refer to them as the Peanuts specials("The Peanuts Christmas Special").

I love how the title has '3D' in it, like the fact that it's available in the 3D format is still such a big deal that it needs to be shoved in your face. Seriously, that trend has to stop.
My favorite and least favorite episodes from each season:
S1 - Krusty Gets Busted / The Call of the Simpsons S2 - Lisa's Substitute / The War of the Simpsons S3 - Homer at the Bat / Dog of Death S4 - Marge vs. the Monorail / Whacking Day S5 - Marge on the Lam / Bart Gets an Elephant S6 - Who Shot Mr. Burns?: Part 1 / Another Simpsons Clip Show S7 - Bart on the Road / Homerpalooza S8 - You Only Move Twice / The Twisted World of Marge Simpson S9 - The Joy of Sect / All Singing, All Dancing S10 - Simpsons Bible Stories / Sunday, Cruddy Sunday S11 - Treehouse of Horror X / It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Marge S12 - Trilogy of Error / Tennis the Menace S13 - Half-Decent Proposal / The Sweetest Apu S14 - Moe Baby Blues / Brake My Wife, Please S15 - The Way We Weren't / Bart-Mangled Banner S16 - Sleeping with the Enemy / Thank God, It's Doomsday S17 - The Girl Who Slept Too Little / Homer's Paternity Coot S18 - 24 Minutes / The Boys of Bummer S19 - Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind / Treehouse of Horror XVIII S20 - Gone, Maggie Gone / Dangerous Curves S21 - O Brother, Where Bart Thou? / The Greatest Story Ever D'ohed S22 - Homer the Father / The Fool Monty S23 - The Book Job / Politically Inept, with Homer Simpson S24 - The Saga of Carl / Love is a Many-Splintered Thing

I'm sure it's just a tentative name. But $40 says it just ends up being "Charlie Brown" or "Peanuts" because the cool thing to do nowadays (ex. 2011's "The Smurfs" and "The Muppets").

Honestly they've done a pretty good job sticking with the art style for 50 years of TV specials that it comes as no surprise to me that they want to try something new. Whatever, I guess.

What do you think they put in the Bug Juice?
    Bugs?
No they don't. Come on...shut up.

did anybody read the article where the curator of the fucking cartoon art museum said this:

When you’re translating a work to another medium, I think creators feel a need to make sure that old and new fans get an experience they can’t get otherwise. If you’ve got a 2-D comic strip that you can turn into a live-action movie or render in CG animation, it’s fun to see something that looks completely different than the source material. I love the Fleischer Studios Popeye cartoons from the 1930s and 1940′s, but getting Jules Feiffer to write a screenplay for a Robert Altman-directed film with Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl? How could you pass up an opportunity like that? With something like Peanuts that’s so near and dear to so many of us, I’d almost rather see a radical departure like this, since it will draw fewer direct comparisons to the comic strip.
20th Century Fox paid him to say this, didn't they?

What is it with Hollywood going on a Lets- Destroy- People's - Childhood's- run at the moment ?

First Chipmunks, then Smurfs, then Calvin and Hobbs, and this and the upcoming Rocky and Bullwinkle.

    What's next ?

Uh, the only Calvin and Hobbes related film I know of is a documentary/tribute to Bill Watterson released just today. It's alright, it's got heart, and it's definitely not another crap adaptation from Hollywood.

Sherman and Mr. Peabody. Calvin and Hobbes has the rambunctious kid and his stuffed tiger, remember?

The chances of a Calvin and Hobbes movie happening as long as Watterson is still alive are really really slim. People have been longing for more merchandise from the property for years, whether it be a cartoon or simply a T-shirt, and for the most part he has staunchly refused.
