R&R American Dad! "The Full Cognitive Redaction of Avery Bullock by the Coward Stan Smith" (4/28)

April 28, 2013 S8E17 Stan is shocked when CIA Internal Affairs tells him that Deputy Director Bullock is showing early signs of dementia and must have his memory erased. Meanwhile, Steve runs into a bully at school, so Roger hires an old friend Stelio Kontos to take care of the problem.
As usual, refrain from voting until the episode airs.

^I think it actually is the longest title. I'm not sure why the writers felt the need to do that, we're all going to call it Cognitive Reaction or Coward or something like that.

The title is a parody of "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" for those few who may not know.

Yeah, it is. It's dumb because they already had a decent non-pun title already with "Dementor" and then they just decide to pun some random movie. Hell, it's not even a clever pun anyway. IMO one of AD's worst puns along with "Daddy Queerest" and "Toy Whorey".

Well, I guess we already need yet another plot involving a mind erasing plot device.
At least it's presented in a different way I guess... meh.

Bring on the next two A.D! episodes, they look f'n sweet.

This episode is already getting a 5/5 from me due to Stelio Kontos. I don't even need to see the full episode.

So far it's not spectacular, but it's definitely starting to pick up.

But why'd they cut out of Steve's subplot at THAT MOMENT.

That was a nice episode. Kind of weird how it just stopped like the last one, but since this one was far funnier I don't care as much. 4/5

I especially liked how Stan just matter-of-factly said "That's a rabbit's water bottle." That had me laughing.

  25. #24

So yeah, this episode was pretty funny most of the time, but it gets a 4.4/5 from me, meaning Bob's Burgers has beaten American Dad for the night at last.

  26. #25

That episode felt like it could have been a truly great one if they actually played Stan shooting Bullock for more drama and had took so long for Stan to realise he was going insane, plus the ending cop-out

It was pretty good. I enjoyed Bullock and Stan's plot to an extent (crazy Bullock is always gold) but certain parts just felt a bit boring.

I liked elements of Steve's subplot (Stelios coming back, Roger and his disguises) but it didn't really go anywhere. It had a lot of promise but they didn't do much with it. Also it was cut abrubtly short. After them tying up Steve and rerecording the song I was really expecting some sort of climatic event to occur before them beating up Steve (having him stand up to them or at least something). I don't like how they didn't really finish it. I think the pacing on both plots could have been better overall.

The ending reminded me a bit of "Of Mice and Men." That was great. 3.5/5, 3/5 for the polls.

Good episode, but both plot endings sucked. As much as Roger pulls stuff all the time I thought it was crappy of him to let Steve get beat up like that. I do think it was funny that he pre-recorded the theme song for the second round though.

As for the main plot, it was good but could have used a little more substance. I felt like something was missing from it. The jokes were good, though.

It was great to see Stelio Kontos again. You can't have an American Dad episode about beatings without him! Avery's bit with the sandwich was the highlight of hilarity.

^It was also cool that they referenced how Stelios works at Klinko's. The only previous reference to it was his apron in "Bully for Steve," so it's nice that the writers actually showed us the location. Family Guy wouldn't have bothered.

THIS EPISODE WAS BRILLIANT! So many laughs! 5/5 "Careful she squirts", "re-recording the song", the battle between Stelio, "That's just gay" God I still can't stop laughing.
