Some movies that I really should have seen by now:

    Lawrence of Arabia
    Ben Hur
    Seven Samurai
    Casino
Once Upon a Time in the West
    Eraserhead
    Cinema Paradiso
    8 1/2
    Rififi
    Full Metal Jacket

Reason I haven't seen them is a combination of the fact that a bunch of them are really long, subtitles not working on the TV only on my computer and no particular reason...

yeah, Barry Lyndon was one I've been sitting on a while (still haven't watched Eyes Wide Shut, which I also have) and it was worth waiting to be in the right mood and give it the time it deserved. the only Ford and john wayne movie I've watched all the way thru is the Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, tho I've seen bits and pieces of a dozen others on tv.
would love to see the searchers someday as it looks like a beautifully shot movie.

Trying to see some of the older pre-1960's westerns by Ford, Hawks, and Mann.

I thought 12 angry men was standard high school movie fare
I was probably the only kid in the class who had already seen it

Nah, we never really watched films in high school... I'm not sure why we never did. The only film I can remember watching in school now is To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school.

Well, that and Ice Age after our geology final but that was because the teacher was retiring anyway and didn't care anymore. He told us to "look for the geology."

Now you're making me remember stuff again. We probably did see more films and I just forgot. I definitely remember seeing A Raisin in the Sun and Death of a Salesman now.

I noticed you have three Stanley Kubrick-movies, and I can tell you they are all terrific!
The Clockwork Orange - 9.2/10, a masterfully filmed and well-acted flick, and while it's not among the best for me, I can very well understand why people think so.
Eyes Wide Shut - 9.5/10, top stuff.
The Shining - 10/10, one of the greatest horror movies ever made.
2001: A Space Odyssey - 10/10, my second favorite movie ever. You can't produce anything more perfect than this, and is easily the best AND the most important sci-fi movie made in the history of cinema.

I thought Annie Hall was great. We are seeing far too few romantic comedies which actually take themselves seriously and makes the dialogue and characters witty and realistic.
This is the second ever Woody Allen movie I've seen (the first was Bananas).
