Lisa On Ice has been one of my favourites of S6 so far, and this review will thoroughly explain why:
Let's get started. Kent Brockman's News segment is amusing mainly because he acts like the Death Count meter being at '0' is something to be baffled by. Homer's quote "I like those odds" after hearing of the 75% chance of hilarity made me chuckle. Lisa hitting Bart in the face with a fridge snowball was kind of cruel, and I believe this helps start the tension between the two that's felt throughout the episode. Lisa getting reprimanded for failing gym (because she's the brainiac), and Bart being rewarded (because his failure is expected) really starts to kick off this battle for Homer's attention. When Bart sees Lisa truly become everything he is not, he becomes desperate and tries to do well in school, but this fails. This causes Bart to lash out at Lis' when she kicks Jimbo's ass. Lisa becoming more appreciated than Bart
makes for some hilarious moments, such as the scene where Homer tells off Bart for making him waste his time, but realises his mistake and
says "Eh, well, not wasted, uh, we, I love you...". Another memorable
quote from this point is Lisa's line "Ralph Wiggum lost his shin guard!
HACK THE BONE! HACK THE BONE!", showing just how dominant she
can be at Hockey. Things come to a head when Bart rips Mr.
Honeybunny (not realising it's his), and he and Lisa fight and start to
strangle each other. This exemplifies their sibling rivalry, and makes it
all the more memorable. Around this time comes one of my favourite
parts of the episode: Homer vs the blueberry pie. Just the way Marge
states "Now Homer, don't you eat this pie!" is hilarious because of the drawn out "pie". The sounds Homer makes from eating it solidifies this
as one of the funniest scenes in the entire episode. Next, the prison scene highlights Chief Wiggum's incompetence as an upholder of the
law. He just lets them out without any second thoughts! During the
final scene, Bart and Lisa's flashbacks are heartwarming, and serve to show that even though they may seem to hate each other, they have still helped one another through hard times. The final shot of the two skating together and being oblivious to the destruction in the background strengthens this fact. To close the summary, the hockey theme over the closing credits was a nice touch. Overall, a perfect 10/10 in my book; There wasn't anything I disliked about this episode.
Memorable Quotes:These are a nice addition to long reviews if you can provide them)[/B]
"Nice PJs, Simpson! Did your mommy buy them for you?"
"Of course she did, who else would have?"
------------
"This is Principal Skinner, your principal, with a message from the principal's office."
------------
"Me fail English? That's unpossible!"
------------
"If you lose, I'll kill you!" (Everyone laughs, then Homer stares angrily to indicate he's serious.)
------------
"Hey, way to knock out my teeth!"
------------
"I'm 64 grand in the hole! They're gonna take my THUMBS!"
This review is different from the last one, as everything everything I liked is in the review. Also, the quotes in the summary aren't included in the "Memorable Quotes" section because they were memorable enough to be mentioned in the main review.
