And Like That, My Life Might be Back in Balance After 2 Long, Miserable Years

2 years ago, I graduated high school. One of the toughest things I'd ever done, especially given the fact that my high school was a charter school that's mission was to prepare students, "For college and life." I was set to go to college after graduation; I wouldn't have had to push carts for 2 damn years, and I'd be in college, furthering my education and doing what I had to do to be successful.

Yesterday, one of my best friends, Matt, took me to Muskegon to the college; Baker. It truly was one of the best experiences I've had in a minute. For starters, on the way up there it was almost all reflection on our past experiences'; we used to hang out all the fucking time. Usually we'd shoot baskets in his backyard for like hours at a time, making up our own shooting games to liven things up. Matt also has a great sense of humor, especially in imitating others, so that was fun. Catching up with friends is always nice to do. And that's not even the best part, but I'll save that for a little later.

Once we got there we had to wait about 10 minutes, in addition to going to the wrong building the first time. But then we finally got in to see the admissions' woman I had been emailing. She was nice, and REALLY helpful. She talked to me about why this was the right time to go to college, what classes I'd take, etc. For one thing, I would be taking core classes like English and Math, nothing I wouldn't take that wouldn't benefit me. I wouldn't have to take classes where I wouldn't apply any of that stuff to my future career.

I mentioned mt fondness of writing and it almost seemed like she was shooting that idea down; she mentioned stuff about how writer's need more than just that job, to help pay the bills and whatnot. I understood completely and so I took a look at some of the things I could get my degree in, and a couple things popped out at me; one being marketing, one being entrepreneurship, and the last not being surprising in the least, digital video production. I'm more so leaning toward that last one but I'm keeping my options open.

Now, the fun part. Or, one of the fun parts; the winter school year/session/whatever you call it is almost over. Like, next week this semester is over. After that, two weeks, and then spring semester for ten weeks. I'm trying for that. Classes will resume on April 7 and I'm trying to go then. All I basically need is to take a placement test for English, reading and Math, you know, see where I am in those areas, I need my mom's 2012/13 tax returns to see how much help I can get financially, I need to figure out where I'd live{I don't know when Carrie and Darin are moving out to their own place; it kinda sucks I'm not going with anymore but hey, on the plus side this means no more smoking for a while}. I'm thinking I'll ask my mom if I can move in with her. The problem is she lives with her boyfriend up there so it's not really her call; I would live on campus but obviously that costs more money that I don't have right now.

Next week Matt is taking me back up there for the placement tests and so the lady can help me with registering and help me with my financial problems in getting in, and if all is good I could be going to Baker College as soon as April 7- WOW!

The awesome news is the admissions' lady started talking to Matt, who isn't in school right now either, and she convinced him to try Baker! He was trying a community college but it is apparently a real hassle trying to apply for classes and stuff. The woman talked to both of us and now he's set to go, also for April 7. That's pretty exciting. I've known Matt since middle school, and to go to middle school, high school, AND College with him, is just almost unreal. I mean maybe we won't both like Baker but at least we're moving on with our lives'.

I'm very happy about yesterday happening and I hope this is the start to my life not sucking as much anymore. I really hope all can be settled by the 7th. That's less than 3 weeks, so it's not much time. Deep breaths, Skylark, deep breaths...

You should become a comedy writer though. That way you can help The Simpsons out.
