Reviewing the German GP: Part 2

Once again, spoilers are in this blog post, as we cover laps 12-32!

Lap 12:
Hamilton takes the lead, after Bottas locks up! Bottas now need to pit to get rid of the flat spotted tyres


"Box Box"
-Bottas

Russell has a puncture and spins! It's race ending damage, resulting in our 1st retirement of the day.

Replays show that Raikkonen hit him, and is now under investigation.

TURN 1 INCIDENT INVOLVING CARS 7 (RAI) AND 63 (RUS) UNDER INVESTIGATION - CAUSING A COLLISION

Lap 16:
Bottas overtakes Riccardo, but then...



This results in free pitstops for Hamilton, who was held up and Verstappen.

At the restart, Albon overtakes Kvyat, who hits the rear tyre of Albon, breaking his front wing.


Lap 17:
Troubles for Bottas!

He is crawling with an MGU-H failure and is told to pit, and retires! Disappointment for the poleman, and that's the end of his day.


Lap 20:
10 SECOND TIME PENALTY FOR CAR 7 (RAI) - CAUSING A COLLISION

The race been OK with some retirements, but not a lot of action

Lap 22:
Albon gets another Flat spot, whilst attempting to overtaking Gasly.


Hydraulics issue for Ocon!

He's lost something, and the brakes and the gears aren't working, so he becomes retirement 3 of the day.

Lap 23:

It's a penalty for Albon, for causing a collision:

5 SECOND TIME PENALTY FOR CAR 23 (ALB) - CAUSING A COLLISION

Lap 24: But Albon also retires! They've called it a day, after everything is going wrong for him.

Lap 26:

Norris is ALSO losing power! Reliability's not looking good today.


Anyway, Super Sub Hulkenberg has worked his way up to ninth but has yet to pit. His team mate likewise hasn't graced the pit lane, Perez fourth and keeping Norris honest ahead.

Lap 28:

Norris is still trying to fix his car, while Leclerc overtakes Gasly. Perez and Sainz pit this lap, which lets Leclerc and Gasly pass by.

Lap 30:
It's a pitstop for Norris, but not retirement. Perez finally pass Norris at the end of the lap.


Lap 32:
The gap for the lead is 6 seconds long and 2nd to 3rd is now 55 seconds.
Leclerc goes to plan C, and Albon's retirement is confirmed as a power unit failure.
