Kwik-E-Mart -> 7/11 Thread

Official thread, there's something like seven on the main page right now. Try not to open up another 7/11 thread. This isn't a perfect solution, but there's no way they need that many threads. Sorry if this ruins anyone's fun.

Encourage you to browse the other locked threads, lots of awesome pictures.

Contest lasts July 1st-31st. Keep talking about it here, the pics so far make it look fantastic.

fyi, in my thread i asked about if all 7-Elevens have the stuff or not. I went to another one in the st louis area over lunch. they at least had more posters up and the squishee straws. but nothing else.

so i asked the girl behind the counter (who appeared to be Indian both visually and verbally) if they had more of the simpsons stuff or just the squishee stuff. she says "uhhh... just squishees. these simpsons are famous?" i couldnt help but laugh since all i could think about was maybe she was one of apu's 8 kids with her own kwik-e-mart now

I've never been in a 7/11 because there are none near me but if I'm ever in a town with a 7/11 then I'll check it out to see if there are any Kwiki-Mart stuff.

Went to the Kwik-E-Mart in Vegas. The transformation is less of an all-out like the Dallas and Burbank one, but it's more complete than the NY one. It has a gas station attached, but nothing really special other than it's themed to say the store name. Only the front is redone, and the inside there's the usual Simpsons characters and Jasper-in-the-freezer, yet on the other hand, this is one of the valley's smallest 7-11's due to it being in a gas station, so it's unfortunate they didn't pick a stand-alone location. The slot machines take away some potential themeing (the machines, due to the fact that they're not really owned by 7-11, could unfortunately not be themed to Burns Casino)...my favorite sign, the coffee one, was MIA, but it was all good. The food, the drinks and the general atmosphere was there. It really is a gigantic promotional piece for the movie, and it shows! The place was packed! There were people parking in the adjacent shopping center hiking up to enter, and picture takers everywhere. This is really one of the smartest ideas the Fox marketing team has ever come up with: a virtual tourist trap that not only has the greatness of letting fans come and see and exciting their thirst for the movie even more, it lets regular 7-11 customers come in and find out about the movie themselves...and have a fun time doing it as well. The general feeling of excitment and "oh, look!" phrases everywhere lets me know that the public is catching on to Simpsons fever...

I took pics w/ my cell phone, but I need to go to work soon and I'm not gonna spend the time. If I ever get around to posting them, I will, but don't count on it. Any other Vegas NHC members who aren't bottom feeders in this forum (you know what that means), try to gain some pics!

Last thought: Being in Vegas, I'm surprised the sign doesn't like up at night "Nude-E-Mart"...(rimshot)...

my resource for all things Kwik-E-Marts, there are lines to get into the Kwik-E-Mart in L.A. this is indeed genius marketing, that shitty little blog alone has gotten 20,000 hits in the past 36 hours.

Yep, for the last 2 days there have been extremly long lines for the Kwik-E-Mart here in LA on Supulveda and Venice. I can see the 4 huge spotlights from my house. Last night the line was so long that it wrapped around behind the store and well into the neighborhood behind it. I just feel lucky I was one of the first ones to know about it and just walk in and take pictures with no waiting.

Title?

I see Apu's uniform for $300 on ebay, I was wondering if it is an employee that sold his or if they are selling them outright at the Kwik-e-Marts? I plan on going to the Chicago Kwik-e-mart but first wanted to know if I should bring a lot of money to bribe an employee for their shirt.

The store one block from my house is one of the 3,000 that has the Slurpees, Krusty-Os, Buzz Colas, etc...my friend and I have concluded that Buzz Cola tastes like Pepsi, RC Cola, and Wochestershire sauce (I kid you not)...mmmm-steaky!

I just came back from two local 7-11s. That's right Canadians, you can get this stuff just like everyone else. I bought some Krusty-Os, Buzz, and pink-frosted donuts.

she didnt exactly read shrek the 3rd, which apparently exists as some sort of companion book for a pixar movie. no, this would probably take several minutes (perhaps 10), and would have ultimately depricated the shrek 3 cinematic experience

she merely looked at the book

she saw it, perhaps in the childrens section of a barnes & noble, registered it in her mind as being in existance, and filed it away for later as the subject for a post on BOOKS YOUVE READ. only she just looked at it. and it was shrek 3

in a way its the saddest post ive ever read

Sure, America's Finest City is "paradise", but I would think that because Bongo Comics comes to my birthplace every summer for Comic-Con, they SHOULD at least have a 7-11/Kwik-E-Mart in downtown San Diego (there's one around 3rd Avenue, I think)!!!

I went to the NYC one today. It was cool, but a bit of a disappointment. They were completely out of Buzz Cola and Krusty-O's. Also, the NYC one doesn't seem to be as well decorated as some of the others I've seen from the photos. They also had practically no merchandise you could buy, other than a t-shirt and a few snacks. It was cool to see, but again, somewhat disappointing.

I bought a pink donut, which was actually quite good, and my friends bought Squishees. I'll be sure to go again to get some Buzz cola.

I went to a normal 7-11 in Philly and they had just about everything to sell except for the RM comic (which I found at another location), the Kwik-E coolers and Krusty-O's. I splurged and bought the 4 collector cups, six magnet straws and 4 Buzz Colas. Luckily for me, the clerk thought the straws and cups were one item and scanned the four cups and just two straws, saving me $6.

Though I forgot to grab four plastic cup lids, D'oh!

First post!

Five good reasons to visit the Chicago Kwik-E-Mart (walk through with sales info, audio and tons of pictures)

Chicago Kwik-E-Mart photo gallery

I'm an independent Chicago journalist (i cover the courts and freelance tech pieces for magazines) and I took a trip down to the Chicago Kwik-E-Mart to see what was happening. I think you might enjoy seeing this promotion in full flight, sales over a 20-minutes time span, an audio interview with the die-hard Simpsons fan who owns the shop and dozens of pictures. Immersive marketing at its best.

And lots of cool Simpsons stuff.

Well keep in mind that most retail store in NYC are way smaller than their counterparts elsewhere, due to the extremely limited space in the high-demand city. Considering what a small 7-11 it is (and trust me, the one on 23rd St. is way smaller), they did a great job.

My older brother, Mark, took me to the Burbank location this morning: LOTS of people taking pictures with their cell phones/digital cameras.

What makes my heart proud is that there were quite a lot of women fans who came to see the place: one remarked that she was more excited being there as if she was at Disneyland!

Place was very well-stocked with Buzz Cola, bobbleheads, and other merchandise (didn't see the Krousty-O's; I was too busy getting my brother
to take pictures of me).

Have to ask one of my old internet friends to transmit the pix: don't have computer equipment.

just out of pure and innocent curiousity of course,

how much do you think one of these KWIK-E-MART shirts would be worth?

oh, and while you're here.....

does anyone know how to get a blue vanilla stain out of a lime green shirt?

(disclaimer: I'm joking. I still have my two alloted shirts. I promise. Are you allowed to just come into my house like this? excuse me. why are there people going through my closet and laundry basket? are all these secret service men really neccessary? oh please, put away the guns people. I'll give the shirts back, I'll give the shirts back.)

(these Simpson's people apparently take their shirts very seriously.)

thank you,

COME AGAIN!

(repeat as neccessary)

I live near Dallas. My brother and I went to the converted Kwik-E-Mart – it was very crowded, at any time of day. But, it is awesome.

3:40 in the morning.

and once more at 4:10 am.

those were the only two brief times during a 24 hour period that there wasn't a customer in our KWIK-E-MART.

the line up outside doesn't die down until at least midnight.

(the way you said "converted Kwik-E-Mart" made me think the Dallas store must have found God. Reverend Lovejoy and Ned Flanders will be so pleased.)

I want to see these things in Canada. If not the Kwik-E-Mart itself, at least the Simpsons products like the Squishees, Donuts, and Buzz Cola. They should at least stick one in the major cities like Toronto or Vancouver! Does anyone know how long these things will be around? I might be in the U.S. (New York) in August.

Dude, there is a Kwik-E-Mart in Vancouver - and as far as I've heard, the products are in normal Canadian 7-11s. Well, as far as I've heard. I've only been to one recently and all they had there were collectable cups, so I'll be off to another one in a few days' time.

Yeah, I suppose you're right. But the amount of merchandise in your pics is about 10 times as much as they had when I was there. They had literally 3 items to choose from (D'oh-Nuts T-shirt, fruit snacks, and something else, that was it).
