Most replaceable voice actor

Whether though untimely death, illness, monetary issues, or disinterest, if the show runs long enough, chances are it will find itself somewhere down the road without one of its core voice actors. Which one of them do you think could be replaced with the least damage to the rest of the show?

They're all damn near irreplaceable to me, but if I had to choose, I'd pick Julie Kavner. I think someone could recreate Marge, Patty and Selma closely enough for my liking.

I find them all to be irreplaceable. I would've voted Karl Wiedergott if he was on the poll.

They should end the show if any of those main actors leaves. No question about it. I choose Julie Kavner for the main reason that I find her to have the least range as a vocal actor but that's it.

I would have to go with yeardly smith even tho I still don't think they should be replaced, I think the show would come to a end.

The show would have to end if any of those left, simple as that. There's simply no way it would not start to really tank if any of them left.

The show could survive without Karl Wiedergott (they survived pre-1998 without him anyway). And it could theoretically survive without Pamela Hayden, Tress MacNeille, or a few others of that nature (which isn't to say that I wouldn't still be upset if they left). But any of those six regulars, no way.

Agree with everyone in this thread. The show couldn't go on if one of them left. Dan, Hank and Harry especially, as they are so versatile and do so many different characters that it would be impossible for anyone to replace them.

IF one of the voice cast left, and HAD to be replaced, I would say Yeardley Smith, for she voices Lisa alone (with a very few minor exceptions), whereas the others voice more than one major character, meaning that there would be more characters to replace the voices for as opposed to just one. Having said that, I wouldn't want an actor to be replaced. That should be the end of the show, once and for all.

Yeardley Smith, but I'm still talking on the 'completely irreplaceable' scale of things. And Dan, Hank and Harry? No chance.

the show would have to end. no doubt about it. and if they chose to replace any of them I wouldn't watch the show anymore in protest.

if someone held a gun to my head and forced me to make it continue and choose one actor to leave, i'd say Hank Azaria. Because he doesn't voice any hugely prominent characters. He could be written out of the show glaringly but at least without killing off any family members.

i was pretty much going to say the same thing as Jafar, so...yea. None are replaceable, but if one absolutely had to be written out of the show in every aspect it would be easier with Azaria.

I voted Julie Kavner. The way I see it, Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria, and Dan Castelleneta all play so many primary and secondary characters that it would be nearly impossible to find an actor that could portray all of the voice actors' characters.

Nancy Cartwright is one of the rare find among voice-over talent. As Dan Castelleneta said himself, "It is very hard to find an adult actor who can play a child in a believable way" (from Nancy Cartwright's book, "My Life As a Ten Year Old Boy"). Nancy Cartwright does this, as well as creating a memorable voice.

And, it goes without saying, Yeardley Smith's voice is far too unique to be replaced.

Kavner, however, has a voice that can be imitated rather easily, making it easier for her to be replaced.

But, as Larson Something said, all of the actors are irreplacable.

I think either Hank Azaria or Harry Shearer because they aren't part of the Simpson family and appear less often. I mean the show could definately survive without them as long as the main focus, the Simpsons, is still there.

But I wouldn't want any of them to leave.

I think Julie Kavner could be replaced by Dan Castellaneta who does a surprisingly good Marge.

Ideally none of them will ever be replaced. The show will probably end if any of them leaves. However, if I had to pick one....

Based on numbers I'd pick Julie Kavner; it seems like her only three important voices could be replaced quite easily. While Yeardley Smith does have only one part I think it would be a lot harder to replace her.

Based on how important their characters are to the show, I'd pick Hank Azaria. In theory, his characters could be written out with much less fuss than there would be if they cut another voice actor.

For practical reasons only, Yeardly Smith is of course the most replaceable. In terms of how well the voice can be replicated by others, I've seen some quite good impressions of Julie Kavner's parts (that guy who did the Machomer show did them quite well). Really, none of them are replaceable, but the show could survive without either of those. The others (especially Hank Azaria), are completely irreplacable. Nobody can replace the numerous and difficult-to-replicate voices that they bring to the show.

I agree and thus voted for Smith on the poll, but you guys do make a good point about Kavner's characters being easily to replace.

Monetary issues? How timely is it, of course, that you would mention money considering what's going on the past few days (i.e. $350K)...

Smith and Kavner have such distinctive voices it would be difficult to replace them. Most of the other character voices would be more easily imitated by other voice artists.

Yeardley Smith because she only does Lisa Simpson's voice compared to other actors who do many voices. Kavner would be pretty easy to replace but she does all the Bouiver women.

It's funny how the only two voices that are impossible to replicate by anyone are winning in this poll (Marge and Lisa).
