Had the game as a kid.. Like others have said - The difficulty was really ridiculous. Don't think I ever made it past the 2nd level.

Simpsons games had a pretty big reputation for sucking when I was growing up. - Aside from the original arcade game. Too bad they didn't console port that back in the early 90s..

"Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the object worship of the state. It will prescribe for every one where they are to work, what they are to work at, where they may go and what they may say. Socialism is an attack on the right to breathe freely. No socialist system can be established without a political police. They would have to fall back on some form of Gestapo, no doubt very humanely directed in the first instance."

Still, the first level had an original premise. But the dinosaur in the fourth level?
What the .... ? Since when are there living dinosaurs in the Simpsons? (and this was before "Time and Punishment", so leave that answer be, you smarty pants...)

The original arcade game was and still is the shit. I wasted a good 5 bucks worth of quarters beating it in the arcade in Circus Circus in Vegas

Yea, we have an old pizza place here locally that has The Simpsons and tons of other arcades from the 80s and early 90s.

Mental note: Must go there soon..

Bart V. the Space Mutants
Ugh, I forgot how horrible the controls are. Gotta love how it's impossible to jump far without wasting spray paint, and you have to jump every time you want to run.

Makes you think how much of a shame it was that Konami lost the Simpsons license and Acclaim, of all companies, ended up with it, thankfully, that was the only truly crappy Simpsons game I played as a kid, the other two I played were the Arcade Game (which, even to this day, is the best Simpsons game ever produced, imo) and the Genesis version of Bart's Nightmare, which was halfway decent.

Kinda reminds me of Sherri and Terri's father, but maybe not. I know I've seen him somewhere before, though.

It was Sherri and Terri's father. He was Homer's direct supervisor in Homer's Odyssey, back when Smithers was still black.

I still have the original cartridge, but no longer the console. I'm hoping this will get a release on the Wii Shop Channel eventually. I'd download it in a heartbit.

It was tough and challenging. The museum level was a particular nuisance (it took me years to beat the dinosaur mini-boss), but I still enjoyed beating it.

I still love Do the Bartman as a clip. I even pop in the season 2 DVD occasionally to listen to it.

Sherri and Terri's father? Weird to place a character that obscure on the package.

And about the Wii-shop: it's a licensed game and I believe it's very hard to distribute licensed games again because of the rights. That's why you also won't see the Tiny Toons-videogames of the NES and the SNES in the Wii-shop.

Maybe hard, but not impossible. The original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game was released on the Wii Shop Channel, as was the Indiana Jones compilation and the Super Star Wars trilogy.

The problem with Bart vs. the Space Mutants is tracking down whoever gained the rights to the older Simpsons games and getting their approval. I'm pretty sure Fox would have no problem releasing them on the Wii, as long as they can get the game publisher responsible. Sadly games like Goldeneye probably won't see a release due to this obstacle.

There is hope, nobody was expecting Super Star Wars to make the list of downloadable games but all 3 of them were just recently added

Not that my life will be ruined if it won't happen.
Now that I think about it, I still have to buy a current generation-console. But I don't feel the real drive to do it. And what to choose? Wii can play my gamecube-titles, PS3 can't play my PS2-titles, but if I am honest, I seldom play a game on TV these days. It's all DS while sitting on the bus. And now that I am talking about it, is the DS-version of "The Simpsons-game" decent and worth buying or is it a waste of time and money?

I recently bought this from eBay on Mega Drive after owning it on Master System when i was a kid. Could not believe how difficult it is. I'm 20 but even i didn't know how to beat the first level without checking the internet, i just feel so sorry for the innocent frustrated 6 year old version of myself who had to try and do it all by himself every day.

It was easy. Compared to that dinosaur in the Museum level. Last boss was even easier than the T-rex. Game is terrible but the music makes me nostalgic. End screen is so not worth it.
