22 short films: who wrote what?
let's see if we can make educated guesses as to who wrote which unaccounted-for segment!!!
segments accounted for (via commentary/wikipedia) marge's fantasy (cut) - Richard Appel "skinner and the superintendant" - Bill Oakley krusty burger discussion - Brent Forrester bumblebee man - Rachel Pulido snake/wiggum/herman - lovejoy & flanders - David S. Cohen milhouse & comic book guy - Josh Weinstein lionel hutz in jury room (cut) - Richard Appel segments unaccounted for opening (bart & milhouse) - ? apu in "the jolly bengali" - ? lisa's hair pt. 1 - ? burns & smithers - ? dr. nick & medical review board - ? moe gets robbed - ? homer & maggie - ? lisa's hair pt. 2 - ? "cletus the slack-jawed yokel" - ? milhouse at herman's - ? lisa's hair pt. 3 - ? closing (bart & milhouse) - ? "the tomfoolery of professor john frink" - ralph & krusty on airplane (cut) - ? writers (italics indicates they wrote an accounted-for segment or two, but this does not preclude them from having written one or more in addition) Richard Appel David S. Cohen Jonathan Collier Jennifer Crittenden Greg Daniels (supervised) Brent Forrester Matt Groening Bill Oakley Rachel Pulido Steve Tompkins Josh Weinstein |

According to what Ortved's book tells us, that Groening credit is probably just a formality...

well there's 3 writers (4 if you count matt groening) that must have written at least one segment from the list, so we'll have to link them only by their writing style (unless someone finds some kind of forgotten document), and since we're talking short stuff, this is pretty damn hard.
eh, who am i fooling, i have no idea, but i may think of something later. |

i am going to venture a guess that groening wrote lisa's hair pt. 3
- it seems logical that he would choose one of the family members; he's also said that lisa's his favorite family member - there's a bit of self-depreciation ("i finally look like a real person"); he has often lamented his drawing skills - it utilizes the barber, whom he designed for a tracey ullman short |

If you look at the songwriters credits of the "Go Simpsonic with the Simpsons" cd, you can see that Steve Tompkins co-wrote the "Cletus the Slack-Jawed Yokel" theme song and Matt Groening co-wrote the theme for "Apu: The Jolly Bengally", that probably means they wrote those segments. David Cohen wrote the deleted Krusty-Ralph scene according to the commentary, and the beginning of the fist Lisa scene (Where Marge cleans the sink) was written by Rich Appel.
