    Who's seen MacHomer?

Rick Miller has this one-man show in which he performs, as his site claims, 50 unique Simpsons characters in an interpretation of Macbeth. What apparently started off as a back-stage joke became a full-length show, and I think it became a pain in Fox's neck for a while because of the copyright issues.

Miller not only gets away with using the characters' voices - and likenesses, as he has pictures of the characters pop up in the background during the show - but he has met Matt Groening personally and has his blessing. There are links on the MacHomer site to educational modules to help teach and adapt Shakespeare for children and high school students. He's been doing all of this for a while, but he hasn't come to my neck of the woods on his tours in a long time. I think I'm going to buy a DVD of it.

I think my dad's friend saw him. I remember being intrigued by the idea some years ago.

I've seen this. The guy puts on a good show! A few of his voices (most notably, Homer) aren't the greatest, but others are spot on. He really makes up for it with the enthusiasm and energy he puts into it though.

Well, that more or less settles it. If I get my hands on a copy of the DVD, I'll be sure to do a review of the show for this site. I wrote Rick Miller last night and was told to expect a reply in a couple of days.

This seems really awesome! Being a fan of The Simpsons and Shakespeare, I'd probably like it! I wonder when he's coming to Appleton, WI because I'd consider seeing this production!

The tour schedule is on his site, but he's spending a lot of his time in Canada and Australia. Texas and California are also part of this year's tour. No Dairy State, but I'll let you know if I can snag a copy of the DVD.

That'd be awesome, thanks! Is any of his stuff on YouTube?

    Here's a clip:

I got in contact with the creator, Rick Miller. I'm sending for a DVD. He also does this bit where he sings Bohemian Rhapsody in 25 different voices - although many of 'em are quite similar.

Northern California unfortunately, I can't believe I'm just leaning about this now, I could of had a chance to see it here in Southern California. Interesting idea, not interesting enough to make me buy a ticket to Napa Valley.

I had noticed that he was in Appleton, WI, I'd drive the hour and half to see it!

I missed him when he passed through here. I'm not really into stage shows, though.

    Seasons 1-9 - Classic era
    10-12 - Scully era
    13-16 - Silver age
    16.5 - Into the abyss
    17 - The shit abyss
    18-24 - Zombie Simpsons

Maybe a little bit, but I pretty much lost it when he did Elvis Costello. Spot on!

He does this French Canadian character who sings a supposedly off-kilter translation of "Jack and Diane". I don't speak French, but I admire how "into it" Miller can get for his roles, as well as the whole multilingualism of it all. He drew the Simpsons pictures himself that he includes in the show, which are okay. Was nice to hear from the man himself - or at least I think it was him. He answered my question about playing in Detroit with ease. I haven't had this much luck contacting someone in the 'biz since I wrote to Van Partible.

I ordered the DVD and a signed script for about $32 CAD ($32-ish USD). I hope to get it soon enough.

It'd be awesome if he was touring in Canada-- I'd try to catch a show near where I live. I rarely have the opportunity to see these kind of performances.
