I remember. I can't say I watched it that much though. The show I used to watch a lot as a kid was Arthur!

Doug was one of the nick regulars I watched in my youth. I rediscovered it when some guy decided to right up rather funny blogs about episodes a few years back but I'd forgotten all about that even. The Nick episodes were obviously the better ones too.

I watched this almost every day when it was on Nick, around the same time a new version was airing on the Disney Channel. Comparing the two, it seems like the Nick version was better then the Disney one though I don't remember much of Doug.

    May need to rewatch, eventually.

Disney's Doug didn't air on the Disney Channel(maybe the reruns did, at a later time), it was part of ABC's Saturday Morning lineup, right after Disney bought ABC.

I really related to this show when I was watching it during 3rd-5th grade or so. It's very enjoyable and I love the character designs and music.

Any of you guys ever read the Doug Funnie is Crazy blog? Pretty fun stuff, and a great way to relive the series for those that haven't seen it in decades.

Anyone ever read the article that accused the show of being racist? It made me laugh and it wasn't supposed to.

I watched a lot of Doug when I was younger, mostly because Nick re-ran that show like hell back then. I was more of a Rocko/Aaaaah Real Monsters kid, though. They did manage to sneak in a lot of random stuff that stuck with me over the years. References like Ponzi Puzzles and Mr. Dink that I didn't realize were references until much later.

It gets a little too much hate now from the internet now because of its blandness, but it was an all right show.

I mostly like doug on an ironic level... it's so corny sometimes but it's oddly endearing. nostalgia plays a big role too

I rewatched two episodes of the disney version (the pilot and the Not Drugs one) and they're... not as bad as their reputation?? the comedy is a lot broader but it still seems... doug-y

I sorta remember the movie...very vaguely

I also remember an episode where they were telling scary stories or something...there was some weird thing where it showed the green skinned bully with the leather jacket carrying the girl Doug liked (I'm tempted to say Patti) over the threshold...I think they were meant to be newlyweds or something. Anyway the creepy house they went into had no floor and they just fell into the abyss or some shit....All I remember is that scene and it was pretty fuckin' stupid.

    So yeah.......

    Just be thankful

    Beavis and Butt-Head....

....Seriously, I'm not joking. He also seems to love King of the Hill and Mike Judge in general.

    Ah! Interesting.

I can't say I don't blame him. Mike Judge is a brilliant cartoonist.

I can't speak for him, but I think I see his point. They both have that "chicken scratch" style of animation, as well as having a balance between feeling realistic and cartoony.

I think it was because Spumco was hired to do some storyboards for Doug, and they didn't like working in the dull Doug style. Plus Nickelodeon didn't approve of another, earlier design for the fairy.
500 episodes, about 200 good ones.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
The episode "Whacking Day'' curiously aired the same day as Seinfeld's "The Contest'', which deals with a different kind of whacking.
