I had no prior exposure to Flight of the Conchords but I did not enjoy them in that episode much if at all. The best part of that episode though was how they connected the plight of the artist to Krusty, which was actually clever. Still a poor episode overall though and deserving to go out as one of the first...

The Wellington Botanic Gardens joke was a pretty good joke, but technically only funny to Kiwis. I hated the subplot

The subplot was more interesting than Lisa's imo, though had hardly any funny/good moments either....again the song's Krusty crossover being the exception though. I have no idea what the Wellington stuff you mention is...

That's because it's a personal joke from New Zealand. Wellington is the capital of NZ and they were mocking their botanical gardens. It was in the first act, after they were introduced to Lisa I believe

Seems like only 3 episodes have any momentum this season and there isn't a 4th that has caught anyone's fancy.
Doing my part to support one of the better episodes of the season so we don't wind up with something like Angry Dad: The Movie or Donnie Fatso making the cut.
Solid character guest roles like Martin Landau's are sadly few and far between in the modern era.

People always say "Oh, the Fit Tony thing is so stupid." It's actually quite clever. You think that "Oh, Fat Tony's not really dead" and that he'll come back. But no, they change it around. We couldn't actually kill him off; he's an important character. But they put an original spin on it that people don't seem to appreciate.

So you mean to tell me that having a thin version of a character is clever? (And even more clever because of the fact that "Fat" precedes his name?) All I see it is something that's both convenient and stupid but if we ever have Homer die of a heart attack or something, we can just have Thin Homer take his place, and nobody will ever notice the difference or mention it ever again. (Hint: "The Real Housewives of Fat Tony")

I just think that compared to the usual, where it's revealed that somebody isn't really dead, it's a fresh and interesting twist. I understand what you mean by the Thin Homer comparison, but I feel it's quite different. Homer is much more major of a character than Fat Tony, and I would likely also be somewhat angry if they did it to Homer. But Fat Tony is more of a minor character, so I think that making some changes to shake things up once in a while could be an interesting concept, and this episode illustrated it.

I respect your opinion, though.

No it's not. If you take out the fat and the thin then it loses that "fresh and interestingness". In a live-action drama, you have a character who's supposedly dead (and is proven dead) then it's revealed that he's standing in a room with slightly different shirt drinking scotch but here's the twist. It's his twin! I understand your way of thinking but minor or major, it's still not clever; especially when everybody accepts it as fact and doesn't question it.
