Since it started, I've been getting back into The Simpson mood, buying Season 6, and enjoying and laughing at so many old episodes that bring back memories... TuT

I was a HUGE fan of The Simpsons growing up, you have no idea. You ever seen a person who constantly talks about one thing and never shuts up about it? Well for me, I was one of those people, and of course, I was talking about this great show.

When watching it again, I distinctly remember something interesting that I stumbled across as a kid.

As I was perusing through the Internet looking through Simpson trivia, I found a website that is based on a fan-production of the show, called "Maggie and Eric", a spin-off series that takes place 12 years after the current timeline of the original show, and stars Maggie Simpson as the main-est character, and a new Simpsons family member named Eric, who happens to have adopted more of Marge's genes (i.e. the hair, the voice, the artistic integrity, etc.)

I was a kid (11 or 12 years old, I forget), and when I saw this, my mind simply exploded right there. I literally thought it was a real spin-off, and that it was coming to FOX soon. I was so hyped for it, I literally told a lot of my schoolmates about it! XD

Of course, they didn't know what the hell I was talking about. In fact, I remember one of them sarcastically teased me, and pretended to agree with me saying that his cousin who lives in America already owns a few pirated videos of the first few episodes.


...And I believed him. God, I was such a dork.


... Actually no, let me re-phrase that, I AM such a dork.

Anyways, eventually I found out it wasn't real, and I felt really embarrassed. I didn't tell anyone about it again, and luckily they couldn't care less to talk about it either. I was that much of a chatterbox.

Even now though, I still wish this was real. It's a neat idea to set The Simpsons into a different age, because let's face it, the show is really, really stale now. Whether that's because the jokes are so worn out or people are just so plain sick of the show now is debatable, but I think a future spin-off will start things fresh. Ergo, it can create a new plethora of possibilities for jokes.

By the way, the guy who made this spin-off, Jake Lennington, is still working on it today I believe.

I will admit, from the perspective of a Simpson veteran fan of the show, there are some ideas of this spin-off I don't like.

Like say, Maggie having muscular arms, Homer still in the position of safety inspector of the plant or the over-dramatic conflict between Maggie and Lisa, but his good ideas outweigh the bad.

Like Bart working as Springfield's new radio personality which I think is genius, and his co-host is his devilish girlfriend / nemesis from his childhood, Jessica Lovejoy, which is even more genius. Or the DeGeorge family whom are the new neighbours of the Simpsons and completely despise each other except for their only child Felicia whom is smitten with Eric Simpson. And Lisa being a travelling jazz musician. Already, there are many great possibilities for jokes here.

I will agree with Lennington when he says the Simpsons needs a spin-off series. It's probably the only way to make them fresh again. And if it does get made, I will be all over it (so long as the charm of the original shines through)!

Glad you like it. He did a great job with the coloring and stylizing it, too.

This fall, I want to return to drawing fan art and doing color pics now that I have a touch screen PC (no android or iPad) and make some higher end drawings.
