the other thing about TV dinners, you don't have leftovers, you have reruns!

after reading several posts like, "i don't like this episode, maybe because i've seen it too many times."

how can you get tired of watching the simpsons. i literally watched, Radio Bart and Lisa the Greek every night for a year, and they are just as great as ever.

so do you get tired of watching the same episodes over and over again. my answer: HELL NO!

I try to mix it up. If there's a season I've been neglecting, I revisit it. If I watched my 3 favourite episodes every night for a year I would get tired of them. The problem with repetition is that it breeds predictability which can make a great episode appear average. The joy of watching the Simpsons (for me) is rediscovering an episode and getting that feeling that I've never seen it before. That's how I felt on recent re-watches of Homer the Heretic and Mr. Plow.

Well I mean it is understandable if you don't let enough time pass between viewings, for me at least personally. There are a very low number of episodes I can watch within the same day or week or month and laugh through just as much on the repeat viewing even from the classic era. And personally the best thing might be when you re-watch an episode for the first time in a long time and laugh at something you forgot was even in the episode such as Krusty smacking the shit out of Mel in Colonel Homer for example.

This is a tough question for me; on one hand, there are certain episodes I enjoy watching but on the other hand; there are others that I just can't rewatch until a certain amount of time passes, 30 Rock episodes for example... The fact that they're rerun so constantly loses their appeal for me when I try to watch, and I seem to have the uncanny ability of knowing exactly what's going on.

Maybe... I enjoy watching episodes over and over again but some can get tiring.

Season 16 onwards are episodes I can't remember what happened in 90 percent of them, but at the same time I do remember they're blander than shit and I have now desire to rewatch them.

I thoroughly enjoy watching reruns but I wish that the FOX station here would play the classics instead of just the newer season reruns! That's one of the things I miss about living in Milwaukee!

why don't you get the dvds?

  13. #13

I do have the dvds but only the ones that are out. It's just easier to watch episodes from the DVR when I only have a short amount of time.

I know what you mean. I actually watch episodes online more often because it's just too much trouble getting the DVD all set up.

I heavily restrict and moderate my episode viewing to prevent over-exposed boredom, and yet, it never has actually happened to me.

I feel that way about most post-classic.

I can watch about 99% of the classic era episodes over and over again without getting bored. I guess it largely depends on the quality.

The episodes I really enjoy I tend to watch the least just so I don't get tired of them. Like al and mike said I try to find hidden gems that I haven't seen in quite sometime just to mix it up. With regards to commentaries, I actually haven't watched an episode with commentary in quite sometime. I basically have watched the more popular or more infamous episodes just to hear the crew's memories and insights. Plus my viewings go in spurts, I can go almost a year without watching any of the old episodes then go a few months watching at least two episodes a day.

i got "tired" of classic Simpsons a few months ago, watched maybe two classic episodes since then.

i just got burned out on the show, especially during the Top 100 phrase where i was watching like 3 episodes a night so my list would be super accurate. and it did kinda ruin it for me. i don't know why exactly, all i know is that in my gut i don't enjoy the episodes as much as i did before.

    Well, let's reiterate...

Split The Simpsons in two: classic and post-classic. Then my answer would be 'yes' for post-classic and 'no' for classic

Therefore, a little bit'a this and a little bit'a that

I have all the released DVD's, but I also have all of the episodes saved to an external harddrive. Just plug it in and watch some Simpsons on the TV. I got tired of the classics a few years ago, burnt myself out, went to the post classics and now I'm back to the classics.

ha, it's not an interesting story. just back when the season 3 box set came out i popped in disc 3. i have to watch tv when i'm sleeping, helps me sleep. so i hit 'play all' every night until i got the season 4 box set. i'd fall asleep after Lisa the Greek. and now when i try to play the disc, it doesn't work. there are no scratches on the disc, it just won't play for some reason. so my most watched is now the only one i can't watch.........that's my story.....now back to the thread.

I don't get sick of them but in saying that I do space out watching each episode to prevent killing them. For example, if I were to watch 'Bart After Dark' (it was the first episode that popped into my head), then I would refrain from watching it again for a while. I mean, like, a good six months.

I space 'em out unless I were watching with a friend and we watched one I had watched recently by myself. I could never watch any episode, even my favorite, multiple times over the course of days/weeks or maybe even months.
