    Best Disney Animated Film?

Help settle an argument: My sister says Mulan, I say it's blatantly The Lion King. Discuss

We had a discussion about this via the box last night. I mean it is difficult to choose which is best as opposed to which is a favorite. If I had to say which I preferred over Mulan or The Lion King I'd give the edge to The Lion King, but neither of those are my favorite or what I'd consider the best.

I'll have to go on the box more often then. Also, poll now up.

The Lion King came at a moment in which the renaissance of Disney animation was at its zenith.
It is indeed modern Disney at its best (together with Aladdin),
but imagine the uniqueness that were Snow White and Fantasia in their days.
And to be honest, on bluray you actually see the superiority of those handdrawn and handpainted Disney classics.

So yeah, modern age Disney is great, but classic DIsney is what dreams were made of.

    Aladdin!
Maude Flanders: My eyes have been soiled!
Homer: Come on, Maude. The human wang is a beautiful thing!

Homer: Here's your giraffe, little girl!
    Ralph: I'm a boy!
Homer: That's the spirit! Never give up.

This doesn't settle the argument between Mulan and Lion King, but I like Fantasia.

I never actually much liked the Lion King, always saw it as a massively overrated film.

    You have no soul, man.

I have massive soft spots for: Peter Pan, Bambi, Robin Hood and Aladdin but Lion King is my favourite Disney film by a gazillion.

The songs, the characters, the story. It's got this great heart and I just can't watch it without feeling warm and happy. Which is what the best Disney films do.

Fantasia is one of the greatest pieces of animation ever.

I also like 2000, although I'd like it more without Steve Martin.

Ah, I find it particularly difficult to tell with you for some reason. I like The Great Mouse Detective too though. Not sure it is my favorite though.

I don't like Disney movies made after the early 1980s nearly as much as the earlier stuff.

Robin Hood?!? Really?!? Their inspiration/budgets were so low at that time that they had to copy entire scenes from previous movies.

So you pretty much mean that one shouldn't like Robin Hood because it reuses animation from previous movies due to a lower budget (which is something I knew)?; that's rather mean.

No, it's not like people shouldn't like it. If they like it, they like it. But to list it in a best of?!?
Of course, childhood memories and rose-tinted glasses can add a lot to improve on the memory of this movie.
And it also seemed to be the go-to movie for showing on television during a rainy sunday afternoon.
