I'm excited... Finally we can read The Simpsons and related publications digitally.

Well if I buy my comics and make them into PDF's myself that's legal.

My comment was related to distribution. Yes, you're able to do whatever you want with your own copies as long as it is for personal use - but legally you cannot give the PDFs to other people to read. Allowing legit digital distribution helps readers that enjoy the comics, but don't want the clutter that physical comic books create. The app is powered by ComiXology - if you haven't used their apps before, all purchases are tied to your account, so if you need to wipe your device for any reason, it's as simple as putting in your comiXology password and all your comics will re-download for free. If you scan your comics and convert them to PDF format, you have to worry about the possibility of hardware failure (be it your device, computer, storage that the originals are stored on, etc). I'm not putting down the way that you do it (I've done it myself too for long trips, a lot easier than carting around a stack of comics), but it's still very time consuming, and for casual (or lazy) readers, or those that don't care about owning the physical edition, it's a great alternative to be able to buy and permanently "own" the same comic on a digital device.

PDF sucks. I've read PDF books online and it doesn't compare. Reading a digital book in it's correct format actually is similar to the feel of the way you would read a real book. There is also a free simpsons #100 on comixology for anyone who hasn't read it yet. Anything that introduces new readers to Simpsons related books is a good thing in my book. Of course you can never beat a real book in your hand but this is good for reading issues that may be hard to get for some people.

I'll still buy the real ones for the posters, and so I can have pride adding them to my ever growing pile of comics.
